I had a check up, yesterday, with the consultant about my lungs. He was pleased that I had followed advice over the winter : keep warm, keep away from other people with coughs and colds, using hand gel while out and frequent hand washing at home. Oh! Smug me.
Then I proffered him a little pot with a sputum sample. He seemed confused as to why I had produced it and where I'd got the pot from. Well no samples of sputum have been tested for a long while and my GP gave me a few pots for samples to use when I get a flare up. I thought the advice was to have sputum samples tested regularly just to see if anything nasty was brewing.
Anyhow the sample was accepted and will be sent for testing.
I'm still a bit confused by his reaction.
