Doxycycline racing heart ??

I stopped the doxycycline as I thought I was having a heart attack. The anxiety was horrendous, every time I climbed the stairs I'd have a massive panic attacks. Doc said no infection but to take prednisolone for 5 days @5mg. I took the dose for 2 days on the 3rd day I had dental app. I needed a filling so was given injection so I wouldn't feel pain, then was laid back in the chair. OMG my heart was racing and I got cramp in my feet. What's going on ?? Ive taken steroids before with no problem so what's going on ???

I didn't get on with Doxy either. I have used Clarithromycin and found that to be better, effective with few side effects as long as you take it with food and have some probiotics for the tummy.

I get the palpitations . I am on prednisolone at the moment, although they help with breathing they make me very shaky and heart racing. I think once prednisolone stops then it will be ok again. I wish you well.

I had to stop my last lot of doxycycline because of palpitations, leg pain and severe itching. Don't know what if any antibiotics are available for me now because I am allergic to penicillin and have had bad reactions to all the others that I have tried ....

Good morning Alvorite. I am sorry you have had this experience, but by writing it on here, you have saved me from Doxycycline. I am 83, suffering from COPD and now a lung infection. The doctor gave me Prednisolne and, I have just noticed, a box of Doxycycline, which I will not be taking after your experience. I will ring the doctor and ask if somebody can go to the chemist for me and exchange it another Prednisolone. Thankyou.

I take Doxycycline it is my emergency go to anti biotic and I get on fine with it - so as with all meds will agree with some and not others (and all have massive lists of POSSIBLE side effects) so please do not just rule it out without trying it might be the one for you and if not well then you can change it but at least you will know - good luck xx

The doxycycline is the antibiotics and the prednisolone is the steroid sapper21, you cant have 2 lots of prednisolone. As undine said it might be ok for you. Please tell me what you decided to do

My mistake, alvorite; the box looked similar to Ptednisolone. . I have had Doxucycline changed to my usual Amoxiciilin, which I have no side effects from. Thankyou for your concern. Albert.

Doxycycline is my rescue antibiotic and it has never let me down. I do not suffer any side effects from it, but as a bonus it also clears up my usual sinus infection at the same time. I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to dismiss it out of hand before trying it properly first as it is a very good antibiotic and one of the more expensive ones.
