My blue tongue during/straight after exercise (PHOTO)

Hey guys, so this is the colour my tongue turns immediately during or after exercise and goes away. Symptoms with it include:

*shortness of breath

*rarely chest pain anymore

*blue tongue (looks a bit bluer off camera)

*anxiety

But yes, there are no bluish colours on lips, feet, hands etc. but tends to stay greyish all day.

Only on tongue, and it turns bluer when I stick it out of my mouth whilst running for some reason.

So if I could get help in what this may be, would be helpful, thanks!

Hello Jonnyhabak1 .

This is the first time I have ever read about a blue tongue. Do you have a lung condition? I have never thought to check the colour of my tongue when I am on the treadmill. Do you take your oxygen levels when you exercise? If you have severe shortness of breath it is always wise to check that your oxygen levels are not dropping to the below appropriate numbers. This could damage your vital organs.

I'm sorry I've never heard of this, and it is probably best of you ask your doctor about it.

Best wishes.

Blue tongue is normally accompanied by blue extremities (fingers toes and so on) In Jonnys case, from reading the other posts these do not appear to be evident. It can be lung or heart condition if the extremities do get blue but all tests seem to be negative, however it also does not appear that the heart has been checked even when taken to hospital. so your reply to the other post is very apt and a second opinion should be sought.

Those results were from month or so ago, when I was having breathing and chest pain. But it is now that I noticed a blue tongue, does that matter?

I agree. A cardiologist would be able to diagnose any problems and put your mind to rest, Jonny. Probably best to rule out any nasties. I have no idea whether the testing a month ago has any relevance to your blue tongue.

Also, seeing as you are so young, I was wondering if you have spoken to your parents / guardians about this? It really helps if someone can discuss these issues with you and work out possible solutions and steps forward. I am more than twice your age and still need reassurance. 😀

We are happy to help, but like Andy mentioned, we are not doctors and cannot really know for sure what the nature of the problem is. I know it's worrying though. I do hope you find the answers you need. Take care. 🍀
