Hi Mollie. You can take cipro with colomycin. For future reference there’s a useful drug interactions checker on drugs.com drugs.com/drug_interactions... Can I ask if you’re taking both long-term?
I am taking colomycin long term as Dr's orders but take Cipro when I am not good, like now.Does this horrid condition also cause swollen ankles? I was diagnosed in the UK after 18months of being ill, it was suggested that the warmer climate would be good for me, ha, ha it makes it worse if anything. Thank yo for responding
Yes, Mollie, swollen ankles are often a side effect of lung problems. Keep moving as much as you can (if you have to sit a lot, try to move your legs while sitting); when you rest, put your feet up and let gravity shift some of the fluid; and cut down on salt in your diet as the more salt you eat, the more water you retain.
I put on a kilo of fluid during the day and lose it again with trips to the loo overnight. If I have microwave meals or eat out at restaurants, I can put on 2 kilos of fluid a day and lose most of it overnight.
very helpful link, thank you
I took ciprofloxacin (1500 mg a day) orally for nine months after a recurrence of pseudomonas in my back which first occurred after two spinal fusion operations L4-L5/L5-S1 Dec 2006. First I was given 4000 mg Ceftazidine through a Grosman line, administered three times a day, for three months. This seemed to rid me of the pseudomnas. But it came back in October 2007. That's when I was given cipro...it seems to have worked (a long slow strangulation of the bug rather than a quick cosh, was how a specialist described it). Because of astonishing levels of pain I was taking morphine (then Oromorph), Fentanyl, Diclophenic, Amytriptaline, Lorazipam, Tramadol and 8 paracetamol a day alongside both of thse powerful antibiotics. I seem to have come through it...but still suffer chronic pain and extreme tiredness. Heart problems resulting in Pacemaker and atrial fibrillation for the past four years but that may not have anything to do with the infection/drugs......Best, JV
