Why on earth do I always wake up around 5.00 am - not really capable of doing much except drink tea! yet come 9.00pm I am absolutely whacked?
It isin't even a nice day out there!

butterfly31851 I have the same problem it seems I've got a built in alarm for 3,am don't know why mind you having problems with sleeping at the moment as on steroids and amox the steroids seem to keepe awake enjoy your tea I'm swimming init lol x
Morning Titchy,
Oh yes I am awake around 3/4.00am but try to stay put till around 5.00ish to prevent my cat from nagging for food!
Currently on Doxy & steroids so thanks for info that it may well be them.
Now then, another cuppa or attempt getting washed & dressed -oh I think the cuppa wins - ha ha x
Hi , I on a decreasing dose of steroids too and been awake since 5ish....at least that's better than when I was waking several times during the night with breathlessness and cough.
It's getting light at 4.30 now in the UK so that's what's wakes me I think.
I have been meditating and relaxing with you tube and then my breathing exercises, which fills the time.
Trouble is when everyone else is getting up I am tired again . Eating biscuits now and radio on....and it's raining.
Take care
Yup! 3:30 the SA mask decides to blast air into my eyes - tis a wonderful way to waken! 😕😕
Night before I said I'd slept like a baby ... should have kept my big mouth shut!
Oh well, good excuse for an afternoon nap and, butterfly, going to make the second coffee of the day is the signal for the cat AND both dogs to start hassling for breakfast ... and they won - sardines & dry dog food - for all of them!!
@knitter seems it goes with the illness I think glad your feeling better take care x
Morning titchy, the longer decreasing dose of steroids combined with the doxy seems to be working....fingers crossed ....together with a change of inhaler . The relaxed breathing exercises help too.
I got so used to the wheeze and cough...it was the librarian in my little local branch told me to go back to the doctors to get sorted.....like Vashti said it's often the small remarks and deeds that make a big difference.
Which inhaler you on Knitter?
I start breathing exercises at the hospital on Monday - only 6 weeks though but hopefully will help
I've got the same problem the wife is always nagging for me to lay in bed a bit longer but I have to get up around 5.30 as I can't get back to sleep I have a cup of tea when I get up and half an hour later I'm falling asleep on the couch I'm on the same Meds as all of yuos
CasperCat I think the steroids are definitely causing my sleep pattern like you I can't lay there have to get up and like some of the others have to have an afternoon nap take care x
Well you have all convinced me - another cuppa, stay in the dressing gown, feed Pickle (not sardines!) and then maybe a little housework or maybe not.
At this rate I should be dressed by around 10.00ish, lol
Meds obviously wake us all up early! Good excuse for an afternoon nap!
Thank you for all your replies.
Jean x
I am exact,y same, and feel very tired again around lunchtime, not sure why as I get at least 7 hrs sleep a night.
Yes I get a good 7 hours at night as well - must be getting old! or is it an excuse not to watch anymore of that boring box in the corner of the room!
How they have the nerve to charge us for repeats I'll never know - all those channels and it is just repeats -
The more channels there are, the more rubbish they 'give' us - don't know why they bother having so many channels, just makes it more confusing trying to find something worth watching.
Yes Magpuss,
I seem to spend so much time flicking round the channels trying to find something to watch - I usually revert to something I have recorded that MAY actually be worth watching! joke isin't it
I have Sky tv. Only the basic package but I always find something interesting to watch on documentaries. x
I refuse to pay out more money to any TV company for repeats. I get 40 odd freeview channels which are pretty much the same as most basic packages.
Most of the documentaries are on the even if they are a few weeks after.
I have found the True Entertainment channel (GOES ON TILL 3.00AM) pretty good. after all I am up about that time!
I love True Entertainment. Lots of good things on there and also CBS. I get around 26 documentary channels with SKY and event though many of them are repeats, as my memory is so bad I can watch them time and again.
My faves are the aircraft investigations ones, 1,000 ways to die, any universe ones, Egypt, murderers, and killer kids. Oh and monsters inside me and mystery ones. It is very rare there is nothing I don't want to watch! x
I have only ever had free to air tv with 6 basic channels. All those docos come up eventually. Glad I never had pay tv, though cant get it here anyway.
I went to bed at 10pm and woke at 1am. Had a cuppa and went back to bed but no joy at falling asleep. Thing is I had surgery Thursday on my lower back and I thought after the General Anesthetic I would sleep. I'm on sleeping meds too 🙄😖😬
Oh yes, butterfly - a good night is always a one off but a bad night becomes a habit! I can take on the world at 3.00am but it all disappears. Sue x
Well Butterfly it's lovely and peaceful early in the morning, so that's a plus! I Am on a good one at the mo, sleeping eight solid hrs, long may it last! Xx
Definetally the steroids and anti,s I've been on them 3 weeks now and apart from tossing and turning all night been up at 4.30 / 5am every morning then nodding off all day. Still Finnish the course this weekend feeling much better.....so looking to get some sleep once again (wishful thinking) . Take care all xx
I have not really slept more than 2 hours in one go since I was Diagnosed COPD two years ago. I have tried early nights, late nights etc. and it makes no difference. When I get out of bed after a short sleep I have to stay up, reading, computer, crosswords, TV, anything to pass the time for a good two hours before I can go back to try again. Even then I usually lie awake for ages. Could be steroids, could be lack of activity though.SOB and arthritis prevents much in the way of movement, regular trips to the bathroom, diuretics, and prolonged sneezing fits, Seretide, seem to be my main exercise routine. I' m so glad that I don't have any babies to feed these days and that being awake does not frustrate me too much. Polly x
I'm up at 4 am every morning and on my way to work at 5 am . I don't mind the getting up its the going out in the freezing mornings which is probably about 330 mornings a year lol
I wish I could still work, but not at that time in the morning - about 7.00am is fine
I am in that club too , up so early and napping after breakfast, but I do sleep well.
Deep sleep lasts a few hours where one hardly breaths much REM sleep where you dream makes you breathe more so if lungs are not as chipper as they used to be your braon might wake you up because it thinks you're not breathing.
