Hi all. I’m currently on prednisone and a couple of hypertension drugs. Increasingly finding that my right hand is cramping up. Pred dose is as low as I can get it. Got emphysema and bronchiectasis. Any wisdom from the group? X

Prednisone depletes potassium. So as said by others above, eat food high in potassium (like bananas, avocados etc).

Yes, Pete, as already said, extra vitamin D does the trick for me. When the cramp comes back, I remember I’ve missed a few doses of vit D. Bananas help too but not enough on their own for me. I haven’t consciously tried the chocolate (yum!) but do drink Green and Black’s cocoa most days, so maybe that’s helping too.

I find tonic water WITH QUINNINE helps me most of the time, almost instant relief. I take Prednisolone now and again but I'd say that the main culprit is my inhaler, which has steroids as well.
