Sorry, carolg1 I have never used Montelukast. I also usually have to huff and rarely cough. I also started coughing and producing bubbly stuff and found I had acid reflux so please check this out with your doctor.

Coughing up what I call 'muck' is probably a good thing. Otherwise it lies there festering and may be part of the reason why you are short of breath.

I'm not sure how long I have been taking these things but I have learnt the hard way that if I miss one the next day I'm in trouble. I have a peak flow meter and record my morning readings and whatever I cough up daily. If I failed to take that last tablet the reading is down and I know at what level it becomes an emergency.

Mum would murder me if she was still around. Her mantra when I was a child was 'keep taking the tablets'! Yuk, I object to being obliged to take the tablets but after 69 years of experience I know what happens if I don't!

Hi carras, thanks for replying so d

Have you taken the montelukast a long time because it certainly helps with my breathing , I produce so much mucus on a daily basis like PND/reflux/lung no one can say exactly which ?? All I have noticed is it’s coming up easier but nearly all day at the minute xx

I can only hope the mucus might even out over the next week or two, but I'm really glad it's improved your breathing. It shows you have a real problem with inflammation, as montelukast's action is primarily anti-inflammatory. I'm afraid, carol, you appear to be unique on the forum in terms of the quantity of your mucus production, an accolade I'm sure you could do without! At least, I've not noticed any other member who has to deal with such a severe, daily problem. It must be sooo tiring. You were going to enquire about the procedure Shancock is going for, have you seen anyone about that yet?

Hi hanne, can you believe I’m still waiting for an appointment I’m on the phone tomorrow, I told them it was urgent and I would be willing to pay and that was a while ago I don’t think they have any idea what I’m going through it’s literally been pouring up all afternoon I think I’ve had perhaps two and half hours free from wretching the damn stuff out which in itself is terrifying without trying to breath in between, it’s going round in circles gut then PND or hack absolutely awful, bad wheezing in between because I think it just aspires to the bottom of my lungs.... thanks for your support hanne xxx Carol
