I have an appointment with the respiritory team at my local hospital as I have asked to be considered for Lung reduction surgery. So my fingers are crossed that I will be suitable. It is a very frustrating and depressing disease.
Wish me luck: I have an appointment... - Lung Conditions C...
Wish me luck
Fingers crossed for you x
I have some words too, to discribe this disease, but I can't write them on here hahaha.
The very best of luck for your appointment Katebeach. xx
Hi katebeach,
I too may go forward for Lung reduction in Spring. I have been on the Transplant List for 19 months now , I'm getting older (although fit ) They are not finding a match (98 %) is what I need so quite impossible I imagine. I go for a CT Scan on the 10th January, if that shows that there may be a Chance for Lung Reduction then I will go Ahead although the thought of Coming Off the List frightens me a bit. My Consultant has explained all to me and sent all the Information about " Valves" which she favours above "Coils".. If all goes according to Plan, she told me it would be Spring for the Operation, so less chance of catching a Cold ? Hope this Helps Kate, Good Luck and keep me informed Please. A Very Happy & Healthy 2018 to you & your Family...Carolina XXXX
Hi Kate
Are you in the States or the UK?,
I don't want to put a dampener on any people who may think they may be able to have a transplant or surgery, but it depends how bad your COPD is, and how old.
I cant have either, because its too bad, and at 73 to old, as I have been told, I wouldn't come out of the anaesthetic.
But good luck if you can, Ron x
Our thoughts will be with you. Best of luck.
Katebeach, please don't expect a decision on the day,as a minimum your consultant will want an up to date ct scan and lung function tests and dependant on your age and current health status you may well have to have an echo cardiogram to check your heart.Only then will your consultant meet with an MDT(multi disciplinary team)to discuss your case before a treatment plan .be it non invasive coils or valves or the more aggressive surgical removal of tissue is recommended.wishing you the best of luck on your journey(i am going through the same journey)...............skis and scruffy xx
Thank you so much for the detailed info, I am prepared for a fairly long journey and have my fingers firmly crossed. I do hope all goes well for you, let me know how you go along.
Kx
all the very best katebeach...go slowly with this...its a bit of hard road you have chosen....You are brave to even consider this...take it easy...Wishing you the very best and have a smooth road to travel on.
