Changes to pension credit

Good morning,

There are new rules about mixed age couples claiming pension credit. As of tomorrow (15 May), the younger person in the couple must be over state pension age to make a claim for PC.

This won't affect mixed age couples already in receipt of PC, unless there's a change in their circumstances that may result in having to reapply at a later date.

New claimants will be advised to claim universal credit instead of PC, until the younger person reaches 65.

It's fairly complex, but the Money Saving Expert link below, explains it very clearly. moneysavingexpert.com/news/...

If you have any benefit questions, PC related or other, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

All the best,

You're right, it's a fairly large reduction for new claimants.
