Elliptical fail

Wednesday I tried the elliptical machine at therapy. I had high hopes they I was improving enough to do atleast three minutes. Nope! I went for one minute and heart rate went too high and oxygen dropped to 92. My lungs felt like they were going to burst. I was so sad. I guess this machine is too much with a heart and lung problem. Someday you just feel like a failure. Then I realize I’m not. I just have limitations.

Hello Bobbi6 .

Oh those elliptical machines. I was never a fan even before I was ill. And yes, you are not a failure. Well done for trying! 🎉

I think gentle chair exercises are great. When I went for my transplant evaluation , they taught me exercises I could do lying down and sitting in a chair.

Just take it slow. Do what you can when you can. Don't stress yourself out.

*Gentle hugs*

Yes I’ll just stick with the treadmill and bike. Thanks.

I try the same machine and am gradually managing to get up to 3 minutes but alternating the hand holds for the first minute I just hold the stationary ones the second minute I use the moving ones and the back to the stationary ones. One day I'll get to three minutes with the moving arms.

I'm so proud of you for continuing to try. I've decided it is not the machine for me and will stick w/ the treadmill. I increased the grade today and feel good about that.

When I did the continuing gym course after PR, the eliptical was one machine the Fitness Instructor did not let me anywhere near. I was best on the rowing machine, as the seat carries the weight. Now I do a lot of brisk walking instead, after the local council closed the old swim and gym building with lots of parking and opened a fancy new place that has very little parking.

main thing is is that you tried and that makes you a success!
