Sinus infection

Hi

Had one now for 10 days. Constant draining down back of nose and throat, leading me to constantly clear my throat. Nasal passages constantly stuffed with green mucus (sorry)

Chest has been fine. But despite my best efforts (saline wash, nasal spray, decongestants etc etc) I can't get it to calm down. At its worst when reclining in bed

Is sinus infection common and is it only antibiotics that usually shifts it?

Thanks

Sinclair

Gosh, I’d say after ten days you definitely need abs, it’s not going to go by itself. Miracle your chest is unaffected. I don’t have sinus trouble, thank goodness, but I know it can be a real problem. Do you use the Neil-med washes? Friends swear by that stuff.

I have chronic sinus disease so mines constantly blocked I'm trying loads of different things, the neilmed rinse is good and Sterimar just for a clean out too. Usually with an actual infection you have pain around the eyes and face, even toothache sometimes?

I'd get your doctor to look at you and ask their advice abs might help, but I've never found them useful with mine.

Hi i,v had sinus problems since july pain behind eyes, head pressure, bunged up nose, toothache, gulping all the time i,v tried all sorts from chemist been drs had antibiotics a few times now but nothings helped.Just started trying Salitair salt pipe keeping my fingers crossed. What things have helped you so i can try them as well

Normally here it is first 7 days on anti-inflammatory like ibruprofen 400mg x 3 a day then if it is resistant, antibiotics for 10 days. I can’t take ibruprofen anymore I have to raise the prednisone to 40mg a day for 5 days and nebulise, it does it

Hello Sinclair. I think you need some antibiotics and fast, before it gets 'lower' and causes more problem. Insist on seeing the Dr. good luck and wish you well. take care.

You should go to the doctor. I had the same, was quite poorly for 3 weeks and worried it would lead to a chest infection but a course of antibiotics cleared it up. Hope you feel better soon.

I have chronic rhinitis. Prescribed montelukast, fexofenadine and flixonaise. I just now take flixonaise and fexofenadine. I use salt nasal wash morning and night. When the nose becomes more productive I spray hydrogen oxide up there and it appears so far to act very quickly.

Hello Sinclair.

I had post nasal drip for a very long time. Antibiotics didn't work for me. In the end the Otolaryngologist suggested surgery. In fact it was one of the conditions I needed to meet to be accepted on the lung transplant list.

So, I had a Septoplasty to rectify my deviated septum and treat the sinusitis. That was three years ago and I am doing far better.

I would suggest having an Otolaryngologist have a good look and perhaps get a second and third opinion if the antibiotics don't shift it and if it is reoccurring despite treatment.

Sending you best wishes.
