Well you may want to check you havent got whoping cough. But a cough with asthma or copd(whatever kind) is quite common i sip warm water as this helps to loosen sticky mucus and relax the musels. 😥

I get the same thing with dizziness. I have told my GP, also when I was in A&E told the Doc there. They weren't very concerned at all unfortunately. It's quite worrying. Best to sit down or hold onto something. Hope you get better soon.

Cheers.

I was once told it could be your heart or oxygen levels dropping apparently when you cough really hard your heart gets squished (causing pulse to increaseand various other things) but coughing hard causes your lungs to do something (can't remember what) but when I've mentioned it to doctors they aren't bothered it's more important to fix the issue (asthma playing up or infection)

Only things I have found that give any level of help when a lot of coughing is going on is the use of a fan to keep me cool and either fresh pineapple juice during the day and then a hot lemon and honey before bed. Failing that sucking a lozenge or hard boiled sweet also helps for some reason. But your all right medical staff never seem much concerned over the cough.

I also use a fan, I have passed out twice while coughing it's a safety function built into all of us to stop us doing ourselves a serious mischief.

I think you'll just learn to recognise the signs and deal with it as I have.

It's frightening at first but if you try to control the violence of the cough, deep breaths between coughs helps me to get in more oxygen and a person to help you focus and stay calm also helps.

Good luck with it, I know how hard it is and feel for you. 😉

Hiya. I have asthma and Copd and a barking cough too which at the moment I'm not sure might be turning into an infection. The lightheadedness starts with me when I get a coughing fit that I can't stop. It's so exhausting too and I think it makes me hyperventilate. So I try to relax (as much as that's possible of course:)) and focus on my breathing by counting my inbreath and my outbreath. Most of the time it helps.

What I was told is the muscles in your neck tighten up which reduces blood flow to your brain. If you can try to pay attention and relax your neck muscles it may help. I know it is not easy to do as when you are coughing everything seems to tighten up.
