Is it just me I have moaned and groaned about not having enough oxygen bottles and feeling restricted also finding the weight of the bottles a bit tiresome (I know ) I am having a real moany moany day today
The Oxygen nurse came out last week to do an assessment and asked me to try Liquid Oxygen as the canisters lasted longer and I could refill myself so therefore have an endless supply YES PLEASE I said I would give it a try
The oxy guy came yesterday delivered the liquid oxygen unit and showed me how to refill the canisters my husband also watched on and said no problem easy peasy and both said you will soon get used to it, well I tried and clever clogs tried and didn’t find it easy so neither of us managed to fill a canister is it just us ? I should have made the guy stay yesterday until I had successfully filled a bottle but he seemed in a hurry it wasn’t my usual delivery guy mine had called in sick so this guy nice as he was was filling in for him and maybe pushed for time. Feeling silly will have to call air liquid again and ask for the technician to come out and observe while I fill and shall make sure he doesn’t leave until I get it right, as I had a hospital appointment today at 9am I didn’t want to take any chances so I asked him to leave a couple of the oxy bottles I was used to thank goodness. Has anyone else found it difficult to fill their canisters or just me, so cross with myself. 😬😬

I Havent filled up myself. But several times this morning included it has spurted out the sides and out the bottom whilst filling another time it filled and promptly spurted Back out. Had to get a new unit that time mine was faulty I was given the larger unit But did not get on with it to big and clumsy. Dials in stupid place also no sleeve to put it in so went Back to the marathon .Dont know how i would manage by myself. Like you I find the cannisters miles to heavy and does nothing to help when you are already in pain just puts a strain on me .When i wasfirst on oxi I was on 1 and 2. So got a good amount of time now im on 3 and 4 there is certainly a big diffrence hope you get sorted out 😷
Pleased it’s not just me I am also on 4 lpm so canisters last no time so getting really frustrated will try again to give the liquid oxy fill a shot but maybe I am not strong enough I feel it’s no use me giving my husband the job to fill them it will be another of those I’ll do it later jobs which in itself another frustration so my responsibility grrrrrrrr
Hi there, I wouldn’t worry too much about requesting the oxy engineer to come out to you - he really should have waited to supervise you when filling it for the first time. Took me quite a few attempts before I got the hang of it and I have to remember to fill the canister an hour before going out or sometimes it freezes. I always keep a spare filled cylinder in the shed so I can stay on the oxy while filling the liquid. I don’t carry it while out as it’s too heavy for my back like the cylinders so find it better to pull it along on a wheeled trolley. Good luck with the liquid - I wouldn’t be without it now - no more lugging 2 cylinders along.
yes I so want it to work as the cylinders are far lighter I use a walker when shopping in the supermarket and hang the heavy ones on the handle it works fine but lugging them up and down stairs is a pain. I start a rehab course next week so thought the liquid canisters would be more user friendly for exercise and it would be lovely to be able to step out on my own somewhere as husband takes me everywhere in the car fingers crossed my usual oxy man was sick so the guy that first delivered for me was filling in for him I think that’s why I got such a quick demo when my usual chap calls tomorrow I shall make sure I fill a canister myself before he goes.
