Welcome to this forum. Being curious and concerned about lung disease I would be interested to know more about your four conditions but only, of course, if you felt comfortable doing that.

This is a very supportive, helpful and well-informed group.

All the best

Wow. What a nasty bundle. I do admire your upbeat attitude. Well done you. But everyone is entitled to their off days, and we are very good at that. With virtual hugs, tissues and an understanding about the struggle of the daily grind of breathlessness and chest pain. One step, one breath at a time, and little treats.

How did you get the asbestos contamination?

Forgive my curiosity.

Sorry, I see that you explained in an earlier post.

I worked in boiler room of government building and I'm still amazed it can take between 15-30 to show symptoms

Were you able to complain/sue them? My problems stemmed from a surgeon who failed to give me adequate protection from thrombosis during my hip op. He went against NICE guidelines, and the vast body of medical/surgical opinion and my warning him about a family history of thrombosis.

Mostly I can cope with it, “the best revenge is to live well”. But sometimes when I am very breathless and a lot of chest pain at 3am I have to do a lot of psychological work on myself not to get angry.

That's not easy for you Katinka but you seem to have a positive attitude and that helps, not much help when your feeling alone and gasping for breath

Hi Katinka46, Carolina Here, Your comment on your Hip Op, was like a red flag to me, I have always said that my COPD stems from the replacement hip I was given (2009) that eventually went Global, as This particular Titanium Hip went into a lot of Patients (world wide)without Medical Screening. The Company is very famous. It's a long story. (still ongoing). So when I read your response I saw red lights flashing. xxx

Only a very quick "hello & welcome" to you Hidden and folk are here, morning, noon and night to give support, advice and to also its such a great place to moan about how you feel or how you've been dealt with by Doctors,Consultants etc etc.

I'm myself am a specialist...a specialist in trying to get doctors to commit themselves rather than "passing the buck" onto another medical person!

hello there, Know what you mean about "Specialists" ! I have Pulmonary Fibrosis, and am suffering at present with a nasty chest infection. Last year my Specialist said there was not really anything more that she could do for me, but..... if I felt I would benefit from a visit to see her, "just ring for an appointment". I did this a couple of weeks ago as I was very concerned about my chesty cough and general feeling of being unwell. I was told by the receptionist that according to their records I had been discharged!!!! If I wanted to see my specialist I would have to ask my GP for a referral. Needless to say I felt upset, as I hadn't been discharged as such, but I now have to wait for an appointment. I am coughing like an old cart house, and feel pretty rotten. My GP has arranged for me to have a chest x-ray on Friday at the local hospital, but when I will get an appointment to see my lung specialist, who knows?????? I'm trying to keep smiling but not easy !
