THE NURSE CALLED TODAY

Today the nurse called (district) as we no longer have a tissue viability one anymore. My moisture lesion has developed into an ulcer two things going against me for this, 1) my annual blood have shown an IGR of 45mmol. And 2) my mobility has severely gone down hill. So we are working to reduce the deep open area by getting out of bed in the morning, in bed on my side until tea time then up for tea and at least 2-3 hours getting up and walking around as much as poss.

Oh dear, sorry to hear this, I know they're difficult to heal.

Keep moving your feet and ankles as much as possible, even from being in bed and sitting in the chair. Keep the circulation going and the fresh blood pumping to the area. X

Hope the ulcer doesn't take too long to heal, it sounds most uncomfortable but moving around as much as possible will at least reduce some of the pressure. Wishing you well.

thank you for your well wishes and useful advice

Oooh Hidden I so feel for you. I came out of hospital with a bedsore. Eventually a district nurse called and ordered a cushion for me. Well it was square and solid and agony to sit on. Also I was bedfast most of the time. My son solved the problem by finding a deep piece of foam and cutting a large hole in the middle. We put it in a pillowcase and I was able to lie or sit, both in bed and out without pain. I hope that ulcer heals soon, Sheila xx

Anthony, bedsores are quite serious stuff , as you well now. Talk to whomever is heading up your care and strongly request that a Wound Specialist Doctor sees you straightaway. Trust me, they can do things and get positive results, when regular Doctors are stumped. Kind Wishes, judg69

at the moment I am under the care of the district nurse, I have to get up in the morning and then go on bed rest until tea time then another 3-4 hour up then bed in the meantime have to get up for relief. @mskpb this very much sounds like a Heath Robinson do nut cushion and despite the fact they still sell these they are outlawed by nurses in the use of pressure relief pressure cushions are a specialist field of manufacture. I am awaiting a hospital appointment when is anyone's guess.
