walking test
Hi
My test was shorter, soon as my desaturation was 83%. They tried me on 1lpm then 2lpm. That was on a Monday I was on oxygen by Wednesday same week.
A test for long term oxygen therapy can take longer as this involves blood test.
Since they been using the British Thoracic society recommendations things may work at slower pace.
thank you all for answeing me but i had a 6min walk test and i know my oxygen got down to 87 or lower i have also had a blood test our of my wrast which they say am on the cuff of having oxygen 15 hours a day it just that i dont know nothing and as am still working i dont know wheter to give work up or not just dont know where i stand with it all

Hi
People still work with Ambulitory oxygen, that's one reason why it's prescribe to allow walking and exercise without desaturation. Hopefully a suitable answer will be forthcoming and allow you to make decisions that's in your best interests.
Hi Tigers69, My walks are normally 6 Mins, I have been on Oxygen for 2 years and go to Birmingham tx Hospital every 4 Months for my "tracking" Tests, The Walk, Bloods, and Transplant Doctor. My Last one they said my Walk was weaker than the last one.....understandable as my Lungs are Deteriorating . My sat reading was down to 84 had to come up to 90 at Least, which it did, I am on 3 ltrs Oxygen, minimum 16 hours, but these days I am on it for about 20 hours. Exercise is the only way to improve you Breathing and general Health, of course not smoking, really goes without saying doesn't it....OMG, Give me a few Rose Wines to Cheer up Ha Ha ..Onwards & Upwards. xxx
sorry i mean 6min 10 m lol
Assessment for ambulatory oxygen? I had an arterial blood test and then walked round the hospital with varying amounts of oxygen whilst having my SATs checked. The doctor who was walking with me was being very careful, after all the point is to find the level where you can walk comfortably. Apparently too much oxygen is also bad, I had to stop a couple of times to let the levels stabilise.
