Hi I'm stuart, my spyromitry showed borderline emphysema and my X-ray shows increased markings consistent with copd, but my dr doesn't seem worried at all, she said give up smoking now and I should be ok, but I thought this was irreversible, any thoughts?

Hi
Damage to your lungs is irreversible what's done is done . If you give up smoking which is the best thing for you to do it will benefit you in the long run and your future otherwise to continue smoking you will get increasingly worse quicker . So try your best regular exercise and eat correctly hope that helps you some Angie x x
Yep give up smoking stops rapid progression. You have to realise that your lung capacity / FEVI decreases as you age for everyone from 25 years of age (which they say is the time when your lungs are fully developed ) at approx 29ml per year so if you continue to smoke this decrease escalates to approx 60ml a year. If you stop smoking now and keep yourself fit and healthy and away from other smokers then you can lead a normal life.
But the choice, as they say, is yours.

JP.
Stopping smoking and leading a healthy lifestyle means you are giving it your best shot at stopping your copd from progessing quickly. If you don't do this then you run the risk of it accelerating faster.
At your level you should still be able to lead a normal life for many years yet. Most people these days die with copd rather than from it especially with such a high lung function as yours.
