I have emphysema and can it cause your kidneys go bad, and I could use some feed back please.

Hi, I'm not a doctor or any sort of heath professional so this may be tosh.

I don't think emphysema of itself would cause kidney problems.

Some medications can and high blood pressure and high blood sugars definitely do. They also wear out with age and of course many people have kidney problems without obvious causes. If you have been told you have kidney problems by your doctor you should see them with any questions about it. If you havn't seen a doctor and think you have problems then see your doctor. Blood and urine tests (usually repeated after a fortnight) give a fairly clear view of your kidney status. eGFR is the number that they check on my wife before giving her treatment for osteoporosis.

I have a slight elevation in my Creatinine numbers and my doctor feels this is not due to my lung disease but by the medication that I have been on. Apparently, there isn't much that can be done. Hopefully, it won't get worse.
