Laughed till I cried ... then cried some more - no cheap power after all

and here I got all excited to open this post, thinking I would beat EDF - ha ha ha ha.....I am laughing, but still broke!
lol love it

I have another solution, a more romantic one. I was invited by a lady (and a friend) for tea. she didn't light the light when day vanished. She put 2 church candles from last Christingle Service. We had a jolly time together! Salads mainly and candles, that should reduce the ill!
So, son's left home & we've really made an effort to cut back our electricity usage this last 12-months.
We pay by Direct Debit & the year-end statement showed N-Power owe us £400+ ...... Great.
We then got a letter to say they were going to rebate the £400 direct into our bank account ....... Great again.
Then we get another letter informing us our monthly Direct Debit was to increase by £10 a month .....
Work that out, because I can't ....... money-grabbing bas****s.
Yep - I moved to npower last year on the basis I would pay a fixed DD and adjust any balance due every quarter. They acquired an extra £79 of my money which I demanded and got back. As soon as my next payment went in they were overpaid again! Then they changed my DD without telling me so I squawked again and they changed it back lol.
The greedy b*st**ds do an annual review and can't resist grabbing a bit more. They will of course say it's based on anticipated costs for next year but just stand your ground and they'll give in
I'm definitely changing to a decent company, as I have for my gas - it has got to be worth the £30 exit fee!
I nearly got caught by N-Power< I 'm not with them. I am with Utility Warehouse which tries to find a better deal for its customer. For this month, I paid £109 for gas, electricity, telephone and broadband.
Perhaps you ought to change!
Thanks for the info - that's extremely cheap!!
I've already got some comparative quotes but will check out Utility Warehouse although I'm very happy with my gas supplier, Daligas, who have their DD every month and haven't asked for anything more (dare I say!)
I have a problem peculiar to rural areas ....... we are not on mains gas so we have to have bulk LPG deliveries. Non of the comparison sites deal with LPG &, although it got easier recently, it's still a hugely complicated task changing supplier. It's all to do with who owns & maintains the huge tank.
Still, where I do gain more than most ...... I own my own water supply. It's pure Welsh mountain spring water & apart from a couple of filters & a UV bulb each year, it costs me absolutely nothing - & it's absolutely beautiful.
Aah - yes. Having enjoyed the rural life myself once upon a time (1980s) I can certainly relate to your situation. We ended up using electricity (having investigated all possible options) partly utilising stream water to provide heat for some areas. (Won an award at the time!)
I do have my own well water (love only paying half normal water bill!) here but we also collect containers of Malvern spring water ... I would swap gas supply for mountain spring water any day!
qbjb, I also pay the lot monthly by direct debit. If you are happy, I am happy!
