Morning All, hope this post finds you well. I'm just wondering as I'm lying here in bed listening to my heartbeat in my ears if anyone else has this peculiar, odd thing. It stared about 2months ago and it's when I'm resting or lying down. Sometimes it's very fast in line with my heart I may add other times it' slows down. Anybody?? xx

Hearing my heartbeat
it sounds like anxitey to me. i used to get it, for me it come with worry and stress...mine started about two months ago even though i was diagnosed with Copd 3 years ago.
i dont get it now as i dont have the those worries as i did two months ago.
Thanx ub40. I have no worries, well not specific anyway but it's worth keeping an eye out in case it's a subconscious one x
I have been able to "hear" my pulse for as long as I can remember. With an ear infection it gets very loud at night. When lying down I think that the blood pressure must slightly increase in the head compared to being upright when gravity pulls the blood downwards into the body. To me it is a normal thing as I have had high blood pressure since at least 14 years old, I would be more worried if I couldn't hear it.
You say it started a couple of months ago, it may be that your blood pressure has increased for some reason or an ear problem without realising it, a visit to the GP is in order, just to check it out.
I get this regularly, but I do have a slightly raised blood pressure so I always put it down to that.Perhaps you should get it checked out.I also had labyrinthitis so I take betahystine meds, so it could also be that.Best get it checked.
Thanks davethepostie I will. I'm back next week anyhoo so I'll say then x
I constantly feel my heart pounding/shaking my body when I lie down. Pulse is normal and so is blood pressure. Part of me thinks it's the fostair but I would have thought it has gone by now after using it for 3 months
I woke up one morning thinking the person who lives above me was going at it on a treadmill about 7am in the morning, it was so loud. I got up and walked about and the noise sort of followed me, it was a proper thump, followed by whirl compressed air sound like bellows a sound that a treadmill makes and the thump when the foot hits the deck. I thought maybe its outside so I went out for a short walk, the noise was not so loud but it speeded up as I walked, I went in the corner shop and the noised intensified so much so I could hardly hear anything else, starting to doubt now, I asked a person in the shop can they hear anything thumping, no they couldn't, so I then thought ooooooerrrr its something wrong with my ears. It was really loud, I thought I better go to the walk in medical centre. And while I was waiting it suddenly stopped. I did see the doc about it though because its something I had not experienced before. The doc checked my ears and she said they were fine, she said she thinks I was hearing the sounds of my own body, the heart pumping the blood and the lungs inflating and compressing.
Not had it since. It lasted for about 1 hour 25 minutes. I didn't know if it was ever going to stop which is why I saw the doc but thankfully it did, really odd experience for me, it was so loud it actually woke me up from sleep.
That sounds horrible Bkin, glad it's gone. Mine isn't over loud just annoying lol x
I have this frequently, at night. I feel that it happens when I'm anxious or maybe, it's because I can hear the pounding, that I get anxious. Whatever it is, It's unnerving.
Yes, I get that sometimes too, and my body feels as if it is almost leaping up off the bed to the beat if I'm lying down. I also sometimes find my eyesight affected by the pounding. I'm being treated for high blood pressure and fluid retention so I don't get it so much now.
I'm on steroids so I'm very conscious of my heart. I find closing my eyes and doing slow deep breathing helps and focusing on breathing helps x
I'm not on steroids at the moment nor have I been for a while (touch wood) although I do take asthma inhalers as well as a COPD one, could be the steroid in them, I have been using them for years though. We'll see what he says x
Perhaps it's just your heightened awareness at the moment.
Possibly is, but it's just going on so long. As I'm at the GP next week I'll mention it to him x
That's a very good idea. At the moment I book my next doctors appointment when I'm in with the doctor as I'm going every 2 weeks. I then know I can ask all the questions next time and it's not too far away. I write my concerns down before I get in to ensure I don't miss anything he must be sick of seeing me 😜
It is quite common with Tinitus.. Check it out with your gp
i have this all the time in one ear so annoying heartbeat i think maybe meds x
