Finished Rehabilitation 😏😏😣

β€’43 Replies

I had my final assessment this morning and now moving up to copd circuit at my local gym with the same crowd yayyyy... my first assessment 6 minute walk was 580 metres and my final one today was 810 . I know I walk regular and exercise daily but the physios didn't want to walk with me on my 6 minute thing as they said I'm too fast for them lol love those girls πŸ˜€ so it pays to breath slow when pacing as iv learned over the the last 8 weeks pace breath slowly exercise daily if you can makes a marked improvement roll on Tuesday next week have a good day all xxxx

It's an organised trek that I'm doing with my youngest daughter. I'm moderate to severe diagnosed 5 years ago. I set myself an annual challenge. Last year me my daughter, step daughter and granddaughter did the Shine half marathon night walk. Hadrians walk is over 2 days and my lovely daughter has booked us 2 nights in a spa hotel as a treat when we finish

in reply to Dipsey

Awww that sounds lovely the moon walks are good .I did one last year . Where does your walk start and finish Hadrian 's wall one ... I'm the same stage as you but kicking it's backside lol Brilliant you set goals also it's a challenge but worth it I wish you well xxx

Near Haltwhistle. I find I need to set a challenge to stay motivated to exercise. I've done the swimathon twice as well. I'm not good at exercise without giving myself a purpose other than health

in reply to Dipsey

Ditto the exercise thing only started due to health reasons now I love it set myself challenges daily to keep motivated. I'm going swimming next week to the local pool ...was in the sea the other day bloody freezing but enjoyed it . That's Northumberland way isn't it ...

Well done Angie ! What do they mean by 'breathe slowly' for pacing ? Long deep breaths as opposed to upper chest breathing ? Not exactly easy to breathe slowly when exercising - not for me anyway :)

in reply to Billiejean_2

The pursed lip breathing technique Billiejean I use it on exercise helps me pace and do little bit more ...i love using it more when going to sleep lol xxx

Wow unless you are 6 feet tall that is a pretty impressive 6 minute walk test, and even then it would still be impressive.

Hiw do you pace your breathing as the further and faster I walk the faster I have to breath?

in reply to jackdup

Lol I'm 5ft size 2 feet and iv always been a bit of a whippet as my dad used to call me when I was a kid ...i use purse lip breathing technique and it works wonders for me ...i found it difficult at first to walk jog and breath using it but practise it regularly xxx

jackdup in reply to

I'll have to work on that then if it makes that much difference for you.

Curious what your FEV1% is if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks

in reply to jackdup

It was 46 % on diagnosis in January this year when I was diagnosed. Stop smoking same day flipped diet and started exercise xxx
