Hi, my husband has been diagnosed with ipf and now has to use an oxygen tank. We have a gas fire that he has been told he needs to stay away from. Does anyone know if we can get some sort of help or a grant to get central heating. His cough gets so much worse if he goes from a warm to cold or cold to warm room. Thanks for your help.

GRANT
Hi
Have a word with your local council grants are available subject to limits of funding.
Like stone said and you should a a disable one from the socal serves as well sorry for spelling
Have a look on the gov.uk site , there is help out there it's just finding it , good luck.
I agree to contact your council. I think you probably have to be on some sort of disability benefits to get grants these days. Also if you have savings over a certain amount you will be expected to fund it yourselves.
A friend of mine qualified for this and they had to use - not sure of the name but a certain company they specified but they had to put a bit themselves.
If you can find your local authority website and look under adult services you should be able to find most of the info and contact details you need,You will have to complete a means test form with thier finance people to see if you are eligable for financial assistance/grants but do register with them as you are entitled to recieve care in the community support and advice and particularly an occuoational health visit to assess your needs, good luck and best wishes to you both
U can get a grant from eon for 145 pounds once a year... I get it but I have copd..
We had a grant from Social Services for a wet room, stair lift and also central heating (changed from warm air to radiators) remember it is means tested so you may have to pay some towards the costs. It doesn't cost to ask so give it a try nothing to loose.
take care
