Hi group. I just joined. I would like to know if either of the above ever go away. I need heart surgery but can't get it unless this is gone. Any ideas?

Bronchiectasis and alveolitis
Hi, I can't help, just to say a warm welcome to the BLF forum & you'll get some replies soon from others with more experience.
You could also ring the BLF help line, UK office hours 03000 030555
Hello Elizabeth and welcome to the group. I have bronchiectasis and heart issues but not alveolitis. Your heart consultant should really be talking to your chest consultant regarding the proposed heart surgery. I suggest that you use your GP to arrange this. Bronchiectasis is a lifelong condition and alveolitis has its own problems. The doctors should be discussing how best to help you. Good luck.
Hi.
I can't help with Bronchiectasis, but I do have Alveolitis.
There's no quick answer, as it depends on what type of alveolitis you have. I have allergic alveolitis (now called Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis). I first had it 10 years ago, and it cleared completely in a year after taking Prednisolone and removing all feathers from the house (the most likely cause of the reaction) - so it can go away.
Unfortunately it came back in 2013 and has become the Chronic version and turned idiopathic. So now my version of alveolitis won't go away, it can only be managed.
Like I said, no short answer - it can go away, but sometimes it doesn't!
As others have said, ring the BLF nurses, and try and get referred to an Interstitial Lung Disease clinic to get a more specific diagnosis and the right treatment. Good luck!
