Schoolboy Memories.

I remember many years ago

When sitting there in class.

A thing came flying through the air

My head it barely passed.

It clattered heavily on the floor

And I looked up to see,

The teacher at the blackboard

Who was staring straight at me.

I'd been looking out the window

Instead of watching to him.

So he took the blackboard cleaner,

And over it did skim.

I claimed that's meditation.

But it didn't cut much ice.

So I made my mind up right away,

I wouldn't say that twice.

Meditation that is not,

I heard him sharply cry.

That's lack of concentration

I'm going to show you why.

Come here and hold your hand out.

I've meditated now.

And this is concentration.

That's when I shouted 'Wow!"

I had a French teacher who was fond of throwing the blackboard rubber and chalk, luckily nothing was aimed at me!

Take care xxxx

I don't think they used to aim, just to clatter in the floor ;-)

I reckon we all could exchange memories of our school days. I went to a girls' school in Reading. Schools were different in those days. The uniform was vastly different. Hats had to be worn, a summer panama hat and a beige "horror" in the winter. + Plus the inevitable dark green knickers. Green tunics, check blouses and emerald green ties. I was never a brilliant pupil, but looking at the text books of my grandchildren, things have been made more interesting. I might have been more successful. XX

It must have been part of teacher training at one time.

We had the blackboard rubber thrown regularly in class, also chalk, and one nasty teacher had a big signet ring that he used to grind into your head if you weren't paying attention. His nickname was 'Thumper'.

Yes, those wooden dusters were often used as missiles. Also had one student teacher who broke a long wooden ruler on a 10 yr old lad's head! Now he would be taken to court.
