Well there I was pootlling along, my Copd, brochiectasis, osteoporosis over active thyroid doing ok when wham, severe constipation and stomach pains and A&E..

Diagnosed bowel blockage (after ct scan) with three options:

1 do nothing with a max four weeks on morphine

2 surgery to remove blockage - lungs would not allow

3 by pass using epidural

I chose 3 and now have a stoma, which is interesting. The op was on Wednesday last week so I am still in the wonderful Borders General Hospital.

You couldn't make it up!

However bloody but unbowed, I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul

Hello Meg99p . It is just as well it was discovered early. I hear these blockages can be disastrous if untreated. I hope you will be home and feeling well very soon. Wishing you a speedy recovery. 🍀🌹🍀🌹

Bravo Meg99p, you are indeed the the master of your fate, hope you'll soon be back home sleeping in your own bed, feeling as fit and well as possible. If you don't mind me asking - will the stoma be a 'permanent fixture' (so to speak) or is it a reversible procedure?

Hi Meg, hope all goes well, 1 of my friends have been through the same, he had an extra problem caused by scarring from his appendectomy op as a child, but after his 2nd op he has recovered and is back at work on light duties at the moment.
