Hello Ja-ck and welcome to the forum. It's fairly unusual for a post to be missed but, I think it could be the title of Exercising hard, that could be why nobody has answered yet. Haha.
There are a lot of people who have come on here to ask if anyone can advise them whether they should have the valves offered by their consultants fitted or not.
There is only one person I know that did have them, (John) so, I think your experience would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe you could retitle your post to bring it to people's attention. Something like, Successful endobronical valves fitted and repeated infections.)
Posts that say clearly, that you are a new member, always get noticed quickly too, as the forum members do their best to make newbies welcome.
As for your repeated chest infections, there are lots of members that suffer from them too, who could give you a few pointers, once your post is noticed.
It's very, very friendly here and the support is fantastic so stick around and you'll see what I mean. xx
Hello casper99 l had a six minute walk test and managed 150 metres after having to stop twice, six weeks after the valves procedure l was again tested and got to 638 metres without stopping, I couldn't of been more happy π so l do try to exercise every day using the British lung foundation exercise book and walk most days and also this is halfway through antibiotics for second chest infection since the start of January l have just done 12 minutes on the treadmill and exercised for 1hour but I do have 1 or 2 days when I go to my local for a few pints πΊ it's hard work but I sat down for too long doing nothing π΄ the longest time l have walked without stopping is 35 minutes but this does vary from day-to-day, all what I do is hopefully going to get me back to work, fingers crossed, Thank-you for writing to me Ja-ck ππ xx
Wow, what a difference they have made Ja-ck, you are really making the very best of them too.
Maybe, because the valves have opened up your tubes, it is making them a bit more sensitive to bugs and time, will settle things down.
The coming good weather, should help a lot too.
The current epidemic of coughs and colds going around is unbelievable. My 11 yr old Grandson, has had the same sore throat and hacking cough, three rimes in six weeks, he just can't shift it and with the Doctor's being reluctant to give him AB, he's missing a lot of school.
You can't beat a pint on a hot Summers day Ja-ck, keep up the good work and keep us informed of any further improvement. xx
Hi Ja-ck, I also have COPD and bronchiectasis. After a bout of infections before Christmas I started taking multi vitamins and liquid vitamin D. Have had a cold since then but no chest infections and the cold cleared up quickly. I work in education so loads of germs everywhere - maybe the vitamins are keeping them at bay. Take care
