I dont know about the tomatoes however green houses ,poly tunnels, hot houses etc play havoc with my breathing. I have always put it down to the atmosphere inside them.

I'm sure you would hate to stop growing tomatoes. Would wearing a mask help? I grow Gardener's Delight outside- so nice to grow one's own.

i would but its getting in to see her.

Hi stoptap11, this sounds daft but maybe it's allergic asthma caused by the tomatoes, our bodies can be so strange, maybe try antihistamine if you can take them, take care, stay safe..

My mother grew tomatoes in her greenhouse and going in there affected my breathing. I'm allergic to raw tomatoes but not cooked! So it is possible its an allergy.

I have never heard of a tomato allergy but if you have reactive airway issues anything can trigger you and cause asthma reactions. People can be triggered by all sorts of strong odors like paint, chemicals, and even purfumes.I always feel my tomatoes smell more when I shuffle around in them, so maybe keep growing them but don't touch them?

Also, I do sometimes wear a mask while gardening because I am allergic to a fungus that grows in the soil. It's ok.

Good Luck!

Hi Frank, I do not know whether your tomatoes have effected your breathing but I do think you should look at your asthma plan and if you cannot help yourself with your plan, inhalers etc. do ask your asthma nurse for help. 3 weeks ago my asthma kicked off for no apparent reason and for 2 weeks I took prednisolone and felt really rough. The medics think I had a virus which effected my breathing. I am so glad I rang them and got the helpful advice I needed. Hope this helps you. Take care, Maximonkey
