Hi John I like a lot of people on here don't worry about the different stages,we just get on with it. Nice to have you with us on the site take care and please keep posting 😊 xx Bernadette
Thanks Bernadette, being quite new too all of this, I really don't know if time is measured in months or years for progression of copd. Thanks for the reply. John
Hello, a warm welcome. I don't have copd but I believe it depends on your lifestyle, the air quality where you live, diet, exercise and positive outlook on how long you can stay moderate.
You'll have more helpful replies soon. Peege
Is that your dog? he looks exactly like our dog charlie. Thanks Peege
Aw, you lucky thing. That's my lovely Freddie, he went to doggie heaven two years 2 months ago and I haven't the heart to take his photo down. He was a very tall, handsome, slim, sleek and shiny Chocolate Lab.
Now I've a Tibetan Terrier X Cockerpoo who's two in April.
Everybody is different John so our experiences of copd vary a lot. How it progresses will depend on so many things possibly including whether you have other conditions which impact on your health. The most important thing to slow progression is to exercise as much as you are able, to eat a good diet and to keep away from infection as far as possible.
I am well into the severe stage and was diagnosed at moderate 16 years ago. But still living well and enjoying life. Welcome to the site
Hi John, I've no idea what stage I'm on, but whatever it is it hasn't moved much in the last 10 years and I'm 85 now. Like Bernadette said, don't worry about it and get on with enjoying your life.
Thank you, sounds like you are very healthy.
Well, apart from COPD, Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, glaucoma, two replacement knee joints, bad hips, over weight and one or two other minor complaints, I'm absolutely fine, thanks.
As somebody once said, if I'd know I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care of myself.
Yes, I also have high blood pressure(controlled with meds) same cholesterol and over weight. I just stopped smoking, go to the gym, and ride a bike for 3 miles 2-3 times a week. Thanks for the comments, John

Welcome John
It sounds like you are really trying to improve your health. Being responsible to yourself ultimately is the best we can do, before we are really able to help others.
I have a lung infection. Fatigue and coughing are my main symptoms.
Nice to welcome you on board.

I was diagnosed with COPD a year ago. I have been trying to figure out what to expect for each stage. I am finding out that each person is different, so there really isn't a set standard for each stage. I am 48 years old and I just started using an inhaler. Best of luck to you.
please don't let the stages bother you, just live your life as you normally. Eat healthy and exercise, ask about pulmonary Rehab it brilliant. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.😊 Bernadette xxx
Thanks for all the positive responses. Had copd for 20 years. Still going but not as strong. I believe attitude, diet and exercise is really important. Hope for many more years.
Hello, sorry to hear you have COPD, my husband had it too. My only suggestion is to follow your doctors advice, be very patient with yourself and pray lots. You can live with this illness for many years ( hope you are not a smoker) and be able to have almost a normal life. If using Albuterol, do so as needed and try your best to eat as healthy as you can, low sodium cooking is top priority! I'm writing you from Florida in USA, please know many blessings are on your way.
