Killer Headache! ๐ŸŒธ

Hi Guys, Haven't posted for a while. Lots going on. Hubby fell down stairs at work. That was 3 weeks ago. He has broken arm and bad concussion. He's doing pretty well now. Home with me, 24/7. Fun, Fun! Anyway, about the same time, all this happened I got a bad sinus infection. Couldn't hear out of one ear and terrible pressure. Took antibiotics. Now I have headache constantly and ear is buzzing like crazy. Guess it's my sinuses. In the center of my forehead. Under a lot of stress too. So any ideas for me? Strangely, it all started when he fell! Thanks so much...Ruby๐ŸŒน

Hello again ruby,

Poor husband.....poor you too because he will be much more poorly than if it were you that took the fall. Hope you have your nurses uniform on? Seriously, I'm pleased he is back home and hope his recovery will be good and complete in a few weeks. The concussion must have been scary, and I think it is probably all this worry which has set everything in motion for you healthwise. I'm pretty sure someone will be along soon to help with advice re the sinus problem, and then you can start for feel much better in yourself.

xx

It was pretty scary. He slammed his head against a cement wall in the basement, when he fell. When I got to hospital, he was a bloody mess Got my nurse uniform on๐Ÿ˜ He's very lucky he's doing as well as he is. Honestly I'm not used to spending so much time with him. We were on opposite schedules. Now to top everything else, lost my cleaning job! What a start to the new year.. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

Oh no - I am so sorry to hear about your job. Is there plenty of work where you live? If not, just get out of the house a bit. It can be a bit suffocating when you are shut up together 24 hours a day no matter how much you love each other when you are not used to it. Alex and I lived and worked together 24 hours a day for 23 years but we were like ships that pass in the night. A bit different when we switched off and time was ours.

Thanks Malcolm, The year has not started out well for me. I actually lost my job on Dec.. 31th! The Dr. sold out to one of the big health care symptoms. They of course, have their own cheap cleaners, they pay next to nothing. I still clean 2 small offices in the same building. I do see nurses from the Drs.office. They are not happy with the cleaning. Nothing anybody can do! Hoping things will get better. Ruby๐ŸŒน

Hi Channell, I gotta say, 2017 isn't starting out well for me. People in the job force could care less. Dr. sold out and now they've got super cheap crappy cleaners. I took pride in doing it well. Now there's trash all over the parking lot! I still do 2 small offices in the building, so I see how it's going downhill. You get what you pay for. Off to sleep for me now. I'm more tired now than I was when I was working!! Ruby๐ŸŒน

Hello Ruby ๐ŸŒท

So sorry to hear your husband had an accident, l hope he makes a speedy recovery.

As much as you love each other, it's a big strain nursing a partner when you are not a 100% yourself, and the loss of your job, are all giving you a huge dose of stress.

I think you should get back to your doctor, and see if he can sort your sinus problem out, as this combined with the above is a recipe for massive headaches.

As others have said, try and make some YOU time each day,.. go for a walk, breath of fresh air each day can work wonders for your mood.....Find a quiet spot in the house curl up with a book, or put your headphones on and listen to some quiet music, this is good for masking the buzzing sound you are hearing...Or just put your feel up and relax for an hour.

And we are always here for you, when you want to have a chat or a rant ๐Ÿ˜‚

Keep your chin up Gal,.. think positive... Spring is on its way, your husband will have recovered, and I am sure you will have a new job, and will feel better......๐ŸŒท

xx

Hi Velvet, Thanks for the uplifting reply. I did go out for an hour. (Wow..whole hr. to myself!)๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Had taken some Benedryl and a motrin. Headache seemed to ease up a wee bit. Think it's a combo headache. A little bit of this and a little bit of that! Will definitely try to get out by myself today. If only for my sanity! A little too much togetherness for my liking! Hello Ruby, what an aweful start to the new year. You need to see the Gp and get yourself sorted so you can cope with your husbands fall after effects. Sorry about the job but it is probably just another firm cutting back to balance the books. On another subject I just went into Sainsburys and a bottle of basic bleach has gone up by 15p thats a 35% increase in one week how are you supposed to manage with no job and food going up at such a large increase, and benefits frozen except for pensions. 2017 doesn't look very optimistic for those of us who have low incomes. Heres to a speedy recovery for you and your husband xx Nice to see you again :) :)

Hi Katie, I'm trying to get myself sorted out. I feel more tired now, then when I was working! With his apps. I'm having trouble fitting me in.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜My job, I lost because Dr. sold out to big healthcare group. Dec.31th was my last day. Happy New year, right? Your right prices keep going up. How to cope with everything is not easy. Ruby๐ŸŒน

Hi Katie, my right ear is deaf again and I keep sneezing! Thinking allergies? I've been taking benedryl, but it makes me tired and grumpy. I did notice it gets rid of my headache. You think sinuses or allergies? How are you, my friend? Ruby๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

katieoxo60 profile image

It could be either, but I would think maybe an allergy of some sort. I am still plodding along but my arthritis drives me mad in this weather and I wake with it more these days. No cure just find whats best for our own health symtoms. I find the cold and flu remedies help the breathing and blocked up feelings maybe might work for you and your headache. xx

Hi Ruby, what a shame your poor husband had a nasty fall and then you had sinus problems, not a great time for you both.

Can you get a sinus rinse? Not sure what they have in the US but Pete was prescribed one by the Royal Brompton here.

Hope you find something to help and wishing you well. Xxxxxxx

Oh poor you, all that stress and worry, first your husbands accident then your sinus problem, plus the loss of your job - no wonder you've got a headache. Sounds as if you literally have shared your husbands pain if it all began with his accident. It's been an awful start to the year for you both, I do hope things soon take a turn for the better, still - it's good to hear that he's doing pretty well now. Maybe it's time for a trip to doc's to get your sinus problem sorted out. Wishing you well...

So sorry to hear about your problems Ruby. In the UK we have a medication called OLBAS which can be bought over the counter, i.e. not on prescription. No doubt you could get this in the US or something similar. It works wonders for nasty old blocked sinuses. As for your husband, I hope he continues to get better. Have some ME TIME for yourself if you possibly can. I know from experience how wearing it is nursing a sick partner when you are not 100 per cent yourself. Good luck to you both.

Thanks Sherry, I Will check the Olbas out. Last night I took some Benedryl and one motrin. That seemed to help some. I also got out of the house by myself for an hour. Not sure which thing helped the most. I think it's a combo of tension and sinuses, plus allergies. Yesterday I was sneezing a lot .Dont know if I'm coming or going at this point! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Ruby๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ

Hi Ruby, sorry to hear what an awful start to the new year you have had, wishing you both a speedy recovery.

The buzzy sounds you are getting could possibly be tinnitus, (iv had it for years and mine started with sinus problems) it affects the head and ears. The noise can be anywhere on the head, but I mainly get mine on the side of my forehead, the sounds are just like a buzzing bee, hissing, dripping tap, or even revving of an engine all annoying, though I do find chiropractic treatments help.

If not tinnitus then I really think you should go back to your doctor over the counter medicines only works for a short while, so you probably either need something stronger or a sinus rinse.

Hope you get better soon xx

rubyred777 profile image
rubyred777โ€ข in reply toLaylay

Thanks Laylay, Didn't want to think it was tinnitus. When I first got it, I went to the walk in clinic. I had so much pressure in my ear. She could see it looking in my ear. I took a really strong antibiotic. That stopped the pressure. She said if it kept up, needed to go to an Ent Dr. Guess that's the next step for me. If I ever get time! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Ruby๐ŸŒน
