Lost Sense Of Smell...When will it come back?

Had a respiratory/cold 3 weeks ago. Got over it but my sense of smell hasn't come back. Had anyone had the same problem and did it come back and how long did it last? Can anyone comment on this issue.

I have had a respiratory infection recently and lost my sense of smell and taste. It lasted for a few days. Also had a "blocked ear" when taste and smell returned. Hope things are better soon.

Hi. Lost my sense of smell after polyps removal about six years ago. Only comes back briefly when I have had to take steroids for more than a few weeks then it comes back so strong it makes me feel ill but only lasts for days.! I have got used to it now and depend more on my sense of taste and my Husbands keen sense of smell.

Sounds as though yours may be temporary as others have had the same thing and recovered.

that also happened to me, Ive found when i do get my sense of smell back, (like you, when ive had steroids) its usually the bad stuff i smell first lol then just when I think im getting used to the smell of things, it goes again

I lost my sense of smell several years ago and its not really returned though occasionally I will get a sense of some smells but nowhere near like I should

Not had the same problem but I have had the RSV virus knocked me for six ,i have had emergency kit for yrs never had to use it, but struggled with breathing this morning so rang 111 Dr said to start Amoxicilin as it sounds no longer viral but bacterial , have had moderate COPD for around 10 yrs, this RSV virus is a nasty one, hope your sense of smell soon returns😳
