PIP or not?

Asthma (controlled) Bronchiectasis (work / life balance required). My manager has advised that I should apply for PIP because I can now only work part-time. Have looked at the sites and some posts on this site. Not sure that I qualify - yes I get out of breath and tired etc. (as do most of us on this site) advice / thoughts please?

Hi if you go to a web site called benefits and work there is a test you can take . If you use things to help with your daily life and you have had to change your work hour you may get it you can only try. If you do deside to apply I would get help with filling in the form I used the CAB as they are used to dealing with form filling and use the right words. As using the right words usually helps you in getting awarded it good luck

PIP is about how a condition affects a person and what they can or can't do.

I also work part time because physically I would be unable to work full time. Have enough difficulty doing the hours I do work but that is another story.

I originally received DLA and recently was awarded PIP for the next 3 years, when it will be reviewed again. It helps me to pay the bills which I couldn't afford with current amount of pay I get.

It also pays for additional equipment such as mobility scooters and ready meals - I can't cook for myself anymore.

You have nothing to loose applying for PIP, but you must get help (e.g. CAB) to complete the forms. They are tricky to complete and be aware the whole process can be very stressful and is designed to avoid paying out!

Thank you for the advice . I am at that stage where work / life balance is needed, but as you say the bills need paying. However there are only some days when I need to sleep / rest after getting washed and dressed. Wishing you better.

Always refer to your worst days when form filling as that's when you need that extra help/money to survive. Good luck to you. Xxxx

I agree but I went cab route ways and still ended up doing every thing myself

Hi - the question you should ask yourself is, what do I have to loose?

If you are refused then at least you can say I have tried.

I am the benefits adviser, working on the BLF helpline.

I find this link is useful when advising callers citizensadvice.org.uk/benef...

it also includes details of the questions that are in the form and also questions centred around what the health care professionals asks, during the assessment.

If any further advice is needed - why not speak to someone at our helpline on 03000030555

Leah :)
