Looking at 3 little white tablets, pretty near to tears, and i just can’t do it. I am petrified. Already manic, with anxiety, do i want to compound the problem? I loath meds anyway, and the pain, just to have a laugh, jas been decreasing. Wotta wimp.

Hello Rue9 .
I'm not sure what they little pills are, but I understand your anxiety taking them. Any new drug is always a bit scary. I take up to sixteen pills a day and it certainly made me very nervous at one point. You are NOT a wimp at all. It's good that you are posting and sharing. It really helps. Keep us posted. Best wishes to you.

Hi Rue. I’m sorry to hear this. Have you had bad reactions to pred before?
Ah, no. I bottled out of taking them today. Every part of me was saying, don’t! I don't even like taking ibuprofen. So this is a seismic leap of faith for me. My symptoms of pMR do vary. Bad today, because it’s cold, but unlike others on here who really struggle. Although I have, in the past, cried as i could hadly get out of bed, but mobility has improved since step up exercises. Anyway, thank you for your post. It is good to hear from people, and their patient generosity in these matters to one another.
Like the rest of life, it’s a very fine balancing act. Pros and cons to everything, steroids included. The good news is that for short term courses of steroids at least, any side effects are fully reversible. Are you getting any help with the anxiety and is the prescriber aware of it? No point dishing out meds if you don’t feel able to take them. I hope tomorrow is easier for you. X
Hi Rue, I know how you feel, My last Course of Pred, was "Shall I,or Not" I am glad I did, Felt much Better, even though I ate the Whole Kitchen. Please try and not get too Anxious, they are with us to keep us going. Love n Hugs XXXX
Ha, Interesting about the kitchen, taps a bit chewy? 😆 I have heard of The Great Hunger. I will meditate upon the tabs tomorrow. My G.P will go up the wall if i dont take. What ‘voltage’ were you on, btw? Rue xxx
Awwwh Rue, I know how you are feeling. When i started methotrexate, i stared at the tablets for days then plucked up the courage to take one. 2 hours later, i was still alive so managed the 2nd one and so on. Ive now been on immunosuppressants for 5 years and have just finished a week of 30mg/day of prednisolone. They’re not quick to prescribe these meds so have faith - you will feel amazing afterwards. Xx
Hi Rue9
My husband used to worry about taking his steroids until one of his friends developed a condition ( nothing to do with his lungs) and was on megadoses for a year until he recovered. Since then 2 other friends both with non lung related conditions have been on large doses for quite long periods. One was taking 75 mg per day for quite a while. Now he doesn't worry about taking what seems like a small amount for 5 days every so often.
Despite their disadvantages they are a very effective medication. I don't have any lung problems but I take quite a lot of ibroprofen for my arthritis when it gets painful.
Worrying is probably upsetting your system as much if not more than the steroids.
Take care
Corin
Late husband Bob used to love the great effect Pred had on his health - he asked our GP if he could take the all the time as he felt like a new man. The GP gently persuaded him that wasn't a good idea for him.
Greetings
Pred, oh gosh. Hamster face, free of charge; high as a kite at 2am and nowt on TV worth watching. Still, they do the trick. Open wide, close your eyes; swallow hard: there you go... almost painless. There's not a wimp in sight :). Bless you -- be brave!
