STEROID Chubby chops ! .......

Just to finish off the dreaded Steroid question - has anyone else noticed that you can start looking like that little creature like a mouse with chubby chops ! - forgotten the name of it at the moment = CHIPMONK ?? - a side effect of taking quite a few Steroids ! - I'me just curious to know if its extra fat on your cheeks or added water in them ? - anyone have an answer to this phenomenon ? ... and any way to stop it, or reduce it, apart from stopping taking Steroids - the eternal vicious circle ! ....thanks folks ....( fellow Chipmonks !!! )....

Pete had that chubby face but his steroids are down to 10mg now so things have settled down.

Sorry have no answer to the question of how to stop the chubby chops getting a firm hold on our lower faces. I'm on 10mg maintenance per day and have just finished taking extra for a flare up. So at the moment look more like a cone head, can't wait for my neck to make an appearance. Just have to remember what it was like before the preds.

The moon face is a side effect of a sustained high dose (over 10mg) I am afraid there is nothing you can do about it I'm afraid. For me the worst side effect of these drugs.

I was face timed yesterday by our youngest granddaughter who is on holiday. My reflection on the screen showed me like a hamster. I have just finished a course of steroids too.

Ah ha! Do OTC artificial steroids count? It would explain my 'chipmunk jowels!

I'm only prescribed steroids if I have a really bad chest infection etc. Not as a regular user of them ,but the first couple of times I was prescribed them I might as well have camped out in a cake shop as I just never stopped eating hubby used to say if my eyes were open ,, my mouth would be full ,haha. But after having them a few times my body adjusted to them and it wasn't such a shock to my system ,,whew , I would have a serious weight problem if the symptoms had continued with each prescription, haha,

You have to be very careful about the food you eat when taking steroids. I was on 20 mg and I just wanted to eat all fattening foods I told myself it's fine to eat what I liked but of course there was the fat belly and face

One I went down to 10mg I went on a diet and now I'm on 5 mg and I try my best to be sensible with eating the right food.

Steroid redirects the fat from your ankles and wrists to your belly. It also gives you a appetite for sweet and fattening foods.

Not what you're looking for?
