Hi

Coughing up blood should always be investigated.

If your phlegm is thick and sticky it can tear the tiny blood vessels, hence blood specks, drinking plenty of fluids will help thin the mucus.

Still requires a trip to GP to rule out any other causes.

Hi lenney, it's a good idea to get checked and see what, if anything, is going on. Take care xxxx

As others say, you need to get it checked out. Take care, Margaret.

I was always told that if it is red then never ignore it, however it may mean a less sinister problem as the cough may have popped a few of the small vessels in the throat. As has been said plenty of fluids and take note of the phlegm colour, darker is the worse to have the pale yellow needs to be monitored if it gets darker.

Not a pleasant picture in there.
