my yearly copd c/up
No. It must be printable I would have thought. Contact your GP's secretary and ask for a copy.

I was refused too, the reason given to me was that the results were on my records and would be fully explained by the doctor. That was in February this year. Stupidly I didn't insist, because although the doctor did explain the results I didn't really understand it all. So,I am practising my 'I insist' sentence. I can't imagine being successful though. 😬
A year or two ago I met my GP in reception as I was going for Spirometry test, I asked him to put a note on my record that I was to be given the results. And the instruction was there in five minutes, to the surprise of the niurse, she was just about to refuse when she saw it. Ask for that.
Then look up how to interpret the numbers. There are many good sites to help.

I have now registered for online access to test results via my GP surgery. So far I have viewed my blood test results but am hoping I will be able to see spirometery one's too. Most times I ask for copies of test results in hospital the doc/health professional has to go and find a printer that works and has some kind of trouble extracting the copy but have not heard yet that they have been told they must not.
Hello
I recently have my yearly check up and allways ask for a print out.I am going through the process of PIP at the moment so this is a vital piece of evidence for my claim .
I would question this as you are entitled to have this information.
Hope this helps.
Hi Joan I have just seen your post I am just waiting to hear about my assessment for pip, it's stressing just going through all this have you had your assessment?
Mo
Hi Mo
I am in the process of claiming pip I have found the form overwhelming and my partner is helping me.I have recently had a spirometry test and have gone from mod to severe. I all so have a arthritis in my foot due to an old injury, I had shingles earlier this year and have had 3,exacerbations.my health has been so poor I am now suffering with depression. I am finding the process of PIP making me worse.I have doctors letter and spirometry reading all so a letter from orthopaedic consultant I am dreading the interview but my partner will go with me he is wonderful.
I wish you well with your claim. Sorry for the long rant. Please let me know how your classes..
All the best
Jpan
That should have read let me know how your assessment goes?
Hi Joan just to let you know I got lower rate for both
Hi Mo
Thank you for letting me know I am glad to hear you were awwarded pip.I wonder would you mind me asking what questions they ask ,and was it one person asking you questions....I am still waiting to hear about my interview I am dreading it.
Hi Joan it was just one lady she said she was a nurse she asked me question about all my illnesses and if I had any hobbies, if I had any pets, if I did the cooking and cleaning, if I could shower myself, if I stayed in my pjs all day sometimes, then asked me how far I could walk without getting breathless.
I went on my own and just told the truth. I really didn't expect to get anything
Hi Joan
My assessment lasted an hour I was scared when I went, but I just answered the questions truthfully and just thought if I get it all well and good. I took my repeat prescription, letter from hospital, and spirometry results. I have got copd moderate, spinal stenosis, high BP, and depression
I will let you know how I get on, and good luck to you

If the system really can't print the result, the nurse should be able to press "Print Screen" on the keyboard, paste the page onto a blank Word document, save and email it to you.
I got a photocopy of the printed version (which she said was for the GP)?!? I didn't mind as long as I got a legible copy. Mad!!
Any health records are yours by right. So refusal to give you them is illegal.
Maybe the nurse isn't very familiar with the printing system. Yes, the secretary would be the best bet. I have a delightful resp. nurse and we have lots of nice chats, but she insists that I don't have COPD but asthma. I have had asthma in the past and this is something different. I checked with the doctor who had the X-ray, and presumably the radiologist's report, and she told me that it was definitely COPD - so there!!!
Defining c.o.p.d.Generally speaking Asthmatics will respond to the appropriate Inhalers i.e.: Spirometry reading prior to Inhalers, repeat post Inhalers the reading will be improved. With c.o.p.d Pre and post Spirometry with Inhalers will not be altered.Often c.o.p.d will not be diagnosed without further Lung function tests and / Scans.I'm speaking as a Respiratory Nurse, and from my symptoms.A Chest X_Ray suggested I have mild c.o.p.d and an enlarged Heart. My Cardiologist refutes either, Cardiac scan showed a slightly leaking Mitral valve, no treatment necessary as its not symptomatic.Spectrometry normal for my age ,weight etc. However just awaiting results of Myocardial Perfusion Scans, over 2days.Next month I see the Pulmonary Consultant, all very surreal as I worked in that department.I would suggest that if anyone, is not satisfied with explanations from G P,s and Nurses, request a referral, you then have a sound baseline. My Cardiologist is considering I have GERD, another referral on the horizon, but my care is excellent.G P practices vary in their criteria, my practice gives a copy to patients without requesting.Hospitals, report to your G P, but many will copy you in to receive a copy.Sorry if this has been long winded, 😄 .
I still get copies.
That's ridiculous! My nurse always gives me a copy if I ask. x
Hi fourcandles
Just had mine done yesterday
Ask for a copy and got one no problem. My reps nurse was very nice.also set me up with.new inhailers. Dave
I get a print out of my results every time I have a test done...., for ANYTHING!! I'm the "patient" and if anyone has a right to have a copy, it's ME !! I'm in the states but I can't imagine it would be different there. I agree with Patriciapotts and others; it's your right to have the results of your own tests.
That nurse or receptionist or whatever she calls herself is dingy.
Hi, I have requested results of my twice yearly spirometry tests over the past 9 years. At my old GP practice they couldn't print results out so insisted they read them out and I would jot them down in my diary. At my newer GP practice since moving, one nurse will always happily hand me a print out, whereas another will not - so again I politely remind her that it is my body, my health and I have the right to know. I heve never been absolutely refused and soo they give in and at least give me my Fev1% and FVC which is what I ask for as a minimum. In actual fact I don't really need to do this as I have my own spirometer at home, but I don't tell them that, as they should be giving us the results whenever asked for - this is something I have felt strongly about since I was first diagnosed. Of course I would agree that they don't offer them unless the patient asks for them - or asks to know their stage for example, as some patients prefer not to know. You could see your GP and ask for your results even now - it's not too late - or you could make a point of asking for them along with your next ones when you have next years spirometry - if they say they can't print out, say "That's OK - you can write them down for me'.
I requested copies of all my papers /letters etc. Whether from the hospital or the GP or from the Domicilary Rep Nurse. The only time that I cannot get a print out is from the portable blood gases reader that the Domicilary Respiratory Nurse does. This is because it has no function or socket to plug into my printer to print out. It only prints via a special lead into the machine at the hospital. So my Nurse uses a biro and paper and we copy the major gas results for my copy.

No I like you like to get a copy take a photo of your results or ask your doctor for a copy
