I have COPD and other complications - also on a trial drug and have just paid £260 for me and my hubby for 1 week in Spain. But could get insurance with other companies due to trial drug. I went with Insure With - they seem a great helpful company

I looked through my list and can't see I've tried Insurance With, I'm trying to complete the form online but their 'tell us what medication you're on' section doesn't recognise what I'm taking. I did try to complete the form the other day but couldn't get past the same question, hence them not being on my list! Maybe I'll give them a call if they haven't got a silly expensive number. I'm really quit exhausted and fed up sorting insurance out .... I really need a holiday haha!!

Hi, I read a lot on here but rarely comment however this is o ne I can help with! Insurewith - my medication wasn't accepted either, what you do is put in the main active ingredient e.g. Fluticasone, salmeterol etc then you get taken to more in depth questions. I reneged at answering the one about the stage of my copd. I couldn't bear to put in "severe" - foolish I know but telling all these companies about my illness really got me down and made me face the fact of my illness (mostly I try to forget it).

Have you tried payingtoomuch.com? It's another comparison site but quite easy to negotiate and came up with a selection of quotes. My problem is I need high cancellation cover as there is a plan for a special trip next year to celebrate Ruby wedding so the quotes are high. For annual about £450. The best they came up with were Spectrum and All Clear. Hope this is some help.

Thank you Teenieleek, I've jus tried 'paying too much.com" and their cheapest, for single trip, was £600 with ALLCLEAR. I'm still searching! Joy.

I must admit, I don't like sharing so much personal info with all these online companies. Goodness knows who knows what about me now. Joy.

Do you have to use oxygen during the day/night? I am on LTOT (15 hours a day) and have not found any insurance company willing to insure me (at a price I am willing to pay) despite the fact that my condition is well managed and I have never, ever been hospitalised! All those on the BLF list are rubbish as far as I am concerned and I have, over the years, phoned each and every one of them. If you use oxygen, forget it and the BLF does not do anything to help in terms of lobbying insurance companies or fighting our corner. My solution, and I do travel at least twice a year, is to go without and take my back up meds with me. I have insurance through my bank for all non-lung related problems.

Hi bingomick, I too need oxygen on a flight but not at any other time. I've spent virtually all this week looking for holiday insurance. I've been quoted anything between £800 by Saga to over £4,000 by Free Spirit. I want to go for 3 weeks and slightly further, also I don't know your medical condition. I've been offered, by two companies, travel insurance but they won't insure me for anything to do with my lungs. So if I get run over by a camel I'd be insured!! Haha. Their quotes are much more realistic, £73 and the other £133. If you're like me and can usually self medicate quite successfully and carry your rescue pack maybe this is worth thinking about. Good luck, let me know how you get on. Joy.
