Try to cheer up - but I know what you mean about "words" I have both bronchiestasis as well as emphysema - I just tell myself that my lungs are a mess and my consultant and I agree on that with a bit of a giggle Forget the words - just try to find out how you can handle it and how to keep breathing - good luck. You have many years ahead to figure it all out, I am sure
Glad you found HU sunny and l understand what you mean too.
I felt that Pete had COPD but when he was diagnosed 6 years ago it was as if someone had punched me in the stomach. Pete takes it all in his stride.
Take care xxx
Hi Sunny-48 There are several of us on here who have never known what it is to live without bronchiectasis. We have had and still have very full lives. The main thing is that we have years of experience of dealing with it and are happy to help in any way. As you said, you are the same person today as you were yesterday and bronch does not come on overnight. Now you can look to maximise your well being with lifestyle and medical control ( and this includes educating your doctors, most of whom are woefully ignorant about the condition). Welcome to the club. Do ask your questions. I am sure that another bronch will be along before long.
Hello Sunny and welcome to HU. I'm sure we all understand what you mean and how you feel. There is something which can be depressing about having a diagnosis attached to you - a label which you'd prefer not to have. The other side of that is that it's the way in to regaining control over how you've been feeling and to find out about ways of helping yourself feel better. You're in a stronger position than you were before and at the same time, you're right, you are the same person. Ask whatever you want and need to ask - someone will always be along to help and very soon you'll be helping other people.
Be well.

Hi Sunny. I too live with asthma and bronchiectasis, and also COPD. I can understand how you're feeling, but kniw that HU is a great place to come and 'talk' to folk going through similar things
Thank you all who have replied it's right sometimes fell so positive taking control other times not so much like everything in life it's not all black and white
Hi sunny, you will find a way of coming to terms with you're diagnosis, lots of us on this site in the same boat,I have emphysema and Bronchietasis, lungs are rubbishy but I do lots to help myself,I do a pulmanory rehab exercise class once a week and exercises at home each morning,it's important to give our lungs a bit of a workout,it has helped so much, ask you're GP for referral, good diet too, walking is good if you can.
Good luck
Jude
sunny_48, don’t despair. With exercises, you can stay the illness. This is medically proven. They used to say the condition cannot be reversed. While it may not be reversed completely, if you take yourself in hand with gentle exercises regularly, you will regain a better breathing. The process may be slow, but it’s definitely there, I testify it and so does my consultant.
In 2010 my lung strength percentage was 30%. In 2014 it had increased to 42%, as verified with spirometry.
So there’s definitely hope.
Keep the hope going, Mic
