Granular Pulm-something

When my GP called with my CT scan results she mentioned the above. Something granular in the lungs and spleen. That is what they wanted checked from the previous X-ray.

As far as I can find is it's some sort of calcification caused by previous damage. In other words the body can't expel the damaged tissue so walls it off with calcium.

Have you heard of this granular stuff? Am I on the right tracK?

Thanks

I have heard of it too. Pete has sarcoidosis which is where granuloma form and block off tiny blood vessels causing scarring.

Not sure if similar but good luck to you. Xxxx

I am not sure if it is the same thing but my lungs have numerous calcified lesions which are the remnants of undiagnosed TB when I was about 10 years old, I am now 73. So I have those in addition to severe bronchiectasis and some emphysema, yet I am still here. I suppose yours could be sarcoid but I am not aware that sarcoid calcifies.

Keep us posted.

What i had was called broken glass, it showed up on one x-ray but was gone on the next. I had had a cause of anti-biotics in the middle of them. XXX

I have not heard of it Robert, but would like more information when you follow it through.

I'm having same issue, I just had a biopsy that was normal but with inflammation, possibly old pneumonia but they can't tell. I'm in a hurry right now but I'll write back when I get home.

I have sarcoidosis and my consultant has said that this causes granulomar to be laid down wherever it strikes. My chest exray looks as though my lungs have been pebble dashed!
