Went out this morning with Lucy (the wife) and her sister. Drove to a local area that has a number of garden centers and other shops you wouldn't normally find in your bog standard town centre.
First garden centre we went to has closed down and been taken over by an Oak furniture company, so that was a bust. Second garden centre we went to was lovely, and Lucy picked up a little cactus for us to add a bit of greenery indoors.
Then we went and had some lunch in a pub nearby. Not very successful. Lucy asked for a veggie burger. What she got was not a veggie burger, but a pile of sliced vegetables, mixed with a lump of goats cheese, in a burger bun. Our meals were served on wooden boards (does nobody use plates any more?!) And our fries came in 1940's style tin plate mugs!
After what passed for lunch, we went on to a nearby antique/vintage bric-a-brac store. Was amazed at all the good stuff they had there! Everything from vintage jewellery and toys, to old newspapers, comics and vintage clothes. They even had a set of traffic lights in their front yard! Anything and everything you could imagine.
I bought an old tin plate Route 66 sign, a June 1897 edition of The Standard newspaper with a piece about Queen Victorias diamond jubilee, and a 1982 editiion of The New Teen Titans. Lucy bought a 1960's (we think) Octopus pendant and chain.
We left the store before we spent more than we could afford (we could have bought a lot more than we actually did lol).
Quick stop off at a pet place down the road, then Morrisons and home.. A great day overall, albeit a very tiring one! Needed a sleep for a couple of hours this afternoon. This is what Sundays were made for.
Hope you've all had a good day.
