Hi Caspiana, I contacted this group for the 1st, time 3/4 weeks ago, prior to awaiting results for c.o.p.d.Since when I've been unable to get back on this group, have to say I'm not the brightest on devices.Reading you are quite inspirational and so, so positive, I could learn a lot from you, and indeed others too on this site.I'm now awaiting a referral with the CHEST clinic, my Chest x Ray reverted mild(Stage 1)c.o.p.d, my spirometry was normal therefore my GP, advised I didn't need treatments, other than Flu and Pneumonia Vaccines, which of course have. However my x ray also showed cardiomyopathy, don't know how long I've had it as a Chest x Ray last October was reported as being normal.I'm now awaiting heart scans and appointment with the cardiologist as to what treatments I'll need.I wondered does anyone else e have cardiomyopathy and.o.p.d, I feel so nervous at the moment, just want to start whatever treatments I need to .either prevent my condition getting worse or slow it down. You are all incredible. In how you manage to be so positive, I do feel a wimp at the moment.Carole, 1944_1934.

Twitchy, thankyou so much.I'm impatient, seems ages when your waiting for these appointments.I'll do as I'm advised as regards medications, exercising etc, I'm the worst at not being active, but I'll listen to advice.xx

Me too, Iam not the best at being active. In my case I do find exercising at home more motivating than going to a gym or even having a run, although a good long walk outside a few times a week is always good to improve fitness AND mood. Also there's no need to buy expensive or bulky equipment to exercise at home, there's plenty of beneficial exercices you can find on youtube or the internet and at first it might be easier to do those, in your own time, in front of the tv or while listening to some music instead of going all out with the gym memberships, marathion running or triathlon lol...

I've only just started being active again myself and a few exercices at home, every couple of days, is a good start......

Can't really help as I don't have either of your conditions. Your doctors should explain it all to you. If you are not satisfied with your GP change to another one.

All the best

Thank you, if I remain dissatisfied I'll do as you suggest.😆 .

Hello Carol,

You are certainly having more than your fair share of problems aren't you, but at least the copd results are good. My daughter contracted cardiomyopathy 20 years ago when she was pregnant with my Grandson. It was misdiagnosed for over twelve months and she became very poorly indeed, and the medication they kept giving her was for goodness knows what - but eventually a doctor with knowledge of cardiomyopathy saw her, recognised the condition and she has been treated accordingly. She is on umpteen tablets and stuff but holds down a full time demanding job. She does get tired and her days off are mostly spent sleeping and catching up on rest but she is a most remarkable woman, and I am very proud of her, and all she does for others.

I wish the very best of everything for you.

xx

Jennifer s,thank you so much for your encouraging words, it's very positive.Ironically I'm a Qualified Nurse, much better at caring for others than being at the other end.My large husband had c.o.p.d, which he'd had for around 10Plus years before diagnosis, soon on Oxygen overnight and the usual treatment regimes but frequent exacerbation and pneumoniae. However a d.v.t, I picked up on which I took him to A@E with so treated with anti flags however after a respiratory arrest he developed a P E, from which he survived, how no one knew. Now at end stage and pulmonary hypertension I bought him home and nursed him for almost 3yrs.A real tough Geordie, he was not rolling over, however he passed away from from Cor Pulmonary .I fully intend not to be beaten, nd thank all you wonderful people for your support.xx .
