Well done. A lot of people on this site know how very difficult it is to give up. So stick with it and others here will be rooting for you.
All the best and tell us how it goes with the GP.

Good to hear that you've set off on the right foot by ditching the cigs and finding this site. Stopping smoking isn't easy but it's the best thing you can do for yourself whether you have COPD or not. Apart from the health benefits there's all the little luxury's you'll be able to afford now that you're not buying 'things to set fire to' 😄😄 - mad, isn't it, like taking money out of your purse and just burning it. I did it for years, can't believe how stupid I was, and daren't think how many thousands I must have wasted over the years. Keep up the good work and have some fun spending your 'bonus'.
You are doing so well - Many of us here know exactly how difficult it is - but keep your mind focussed and write in if you find your resolve weakening - there is a section on here as well for giving up smoking. All the best for your visit to the surgery, if you have copd then you will be going to see the copd nurse for spirometry testing.

I used to smoke 30 cigarettes a day, in a way I was helped by my health problems in giving up. I was very ill for a month so I wasn't smoking however when I got better I gave up smoking as nicotine was completely out of my system. I know how hard it is to give up. I tried many times in the past without success patches, gum, however these things that people are smoking today don't know the name of them seem to be having a lot of success in helping people to give up. Regards bobsle1.
Hello Valerie & welcome. Great you are giving up smoking; best choice you can make. It can be hard to do as many of us know but it can be done. Let us know how you go on. Take Care, Margaret x
Valerie01. I went for a CT scan and three weeks later I saw a consultant who showed me the scan result. He explained that I had COPD so maybe your doctor will send you for a scan in the near future. Regards bobsie1.
I've had chest x ray nothing else yet
Ask your doctor if you can have a ct scan I'm sure it will put your mind at rest. Regards Bobsie1.
Valerie could you let me know how I can get my photo on health unlocked? Please regard bobsie1

Thanks Jennifer-S have tried but still no luck.
Well done so far on the not smoking I stopped 16months ago I struggled at first but now doing OK I'm sure you know it is a the very best thing you can do for your self even if your diagnosis isn't copd this time... I am sorry I didn't give up sooner about 2years earlier my symptoms may have been lessened... But any way good luck with the no smoking and and doctors visit on Thursday I'm sure regardless of the diagnosis there are always people on here that are happy to help and support you with the not smoking and copd questions you might have they really are a friendly bunch the last 18months would have been a nightmare with out them xxxtake care
Hello and welcome Valerie your doing well on giving up the fags keep it up Brian
I stopped a year ago still get cravings for one but manage to get over it lol
Has your doctor given you a spirometry test\ and the "six minute walk" to check if you have COPD? Until it is confirmed that you have COPD, it will be difficult for the doctor to prescribe proper medication. Best thing you have done though, is giving up smoking.
What's this six minute walk about.
Trying to quit the smoking is top priority, well done keep it up.
Lots of support on this site, good luck with GP results.
Hilde
