There was a small press release in the newspapers not long ago suggesting that some people with COPD/SOB etc may have lower iron levels and may improve with extra iron. It's something to do with the ability of the haemoglobin in the blood to take up oxygen and is dependent on the iron levels in the blood. However, it must be prescribed and is not something that people should self medicate - too much iron can be damaging
