Hi
Gargle with plain water or mouth wash, I use mouth wash most of the time. It is to remove any residue and stop oral thrush.
Thankyou very much im so lucky ive got three inhalers now
I was at rehab yesterday and we had the 'inhaler' chat. Have you been told you should always take Fostair via an aerochamber? I was on this med a few years ago & was never told that, but apparently you should!!
Regards

Ive only been given it today and nurse didnt say anything about that sue x
I would maybe check back with ur nurse then..you can get an aerochamber on prescription. Did you also know about the pre-payment certificate? If you pay for your prescriptions, this is a monthly direct debit payment (£10 ish) that covers costs for all your monthly meds..saves a fortune!!

I dnt pay for my prescriptions now thanks for the advice x
" Hello and good morning to you mariebird..I like Stone.... I gargle with plain water and at the end of the day I usually rinse my mouth out with " boiled water with salt added".... And left to go Luke warm or cold then gargle or rinse.. Keeps your mouth fresh and free from getting thrush or a sore mouth...i use this method after each inhaler I use.....Megan."
Good morning mariebird,
All sound advice on here - it's a great forum with great members.
I use Fostair via an aerochamber early morning and in the evening, and have only just been told by a different nurse that after inhaling once, I should then inhale again as there will still be some in the chamber, then to repeat this after the second inhale. I then clean my teeth, gargle with toothpaste residue and tap water. and then drink some more tap water and Bob's your uncle.
You know what? I don't think many in the medical profession understand copd or associated problems. We get such conflicting advice - if any at all. Ask on here if you are not sure. Everyone is so helpful - plus we all know how you feel
Thanks one of my inhalers is a seebreeze and the nurse had never heard of it what chance have we got x
Very little - which is why we should stick together.
xx
I see you have already had some good advice, please don't use soap and water especially, Carbolic lol. A bit serious now, I just swill my mouth out with water and gargle with it, I then use a mouth wash. think it would have been better if they had said Swill rather than Wash. Have a good day. Tatters.
Thanks for your advice i will give the carbolic a miss i had to much of that when i was young haha only kidding x
heh heh.....
I just keep it simple take meds including Fostair when I get up then brush teeth then rinse. same at night.
clematis5932 so you dont gargle i tried it yesterday with salt water it nearly made me sick
mariebird No I do not !!!! my husband swears by salt water it makes me feel sick. I just rinse with plain water. I do use a mouth wash but only to freshen my breath.
I just use water and seems fine xx
