You feel her joy at doing her walks don't you, I too wish I were striding out with her.
I do, my problem is I last walked this walk around six years ago with my wife, son, sister & brother in law. I remember walking the track to Jacobs Ladder knee deep in snow in the 1970's when a girlfriend disappeared into a snow drift covering a stream.
Kinder with a dusting of snow that we described as sugar on Christmas Pudding, walking the track at an angle fighting the wind ripping everything that wasn't tied down, being desperate to get to the pack horse bridge for a refreshing drink on a roasting hot summers day (having forgotten a bottle of water) and now ... confined to watching on a TV screen!
Ah, an anorak and a pair of plimsolls, life in the 70's & 80's was simple but sooo good.
Come and join me on the Malverns Y-not. The walks are not as demanding but still have views to die for. .
I've just been watching Julia also and love her walks, she take's us to places that we can only dream of getting to don't she.
Its hard to find a place in the UK that isn't fantastic, nowadays I rely on Tampers and the like but they take me around National Parks, Ladybower (dam busters country) and local parks.
Got to confess I've never tried the Malvern ... can we have a pic or two please - show me what I'm missing ☺
check this out y-not. Just click on the links from my recent post.
I have just watched this; love the great outdoors but walks these days are strictly on the flat. X
I'm watching Julia too right now - and nebulising, of course.
Was always a great walker and found that there were few things that couldn't be helped by a good, long walk. Not to mention the pleasure of being out of doors and close to nature. And the light - morning light, afternoon and my favourite - twilight/evening light.
I can only walk short distances now but keep reminding myself that you can drive anywhere you want, then get out and have a short walk or sit down and another and another. But you can still be there.
Not quite the same thing I know, but better then nothing and occasionally mountains have cable cars or funiculars. Not that Tony would have anything to do with those of course
Oh well, back to the Peak District with Julia.
The plan: tomorrow morning around 9:00 am, set off for Barber Booth, park up, take the dogs and head for the bottom of Jacobs Ladder. (no way I'll get up it but its a couple of miles to get to it!
Show wife the picks when I get back (she says she needs to catch up on some iRon(ing) - think that's an Apple thing!
Think I can get away with it, just get an ear bashing tomorrow night - what do you think? I'll post a pic or two if I manage it! 😃
OMG! The sun's shining, birds singing, dogs feed and I| really don't feel too bad - game on!!
Wish I could do it too but it is nice to watch and remember our younger walking days.
