Been to doctors this morning recent visit to out of hours.
Went in doctor says 'how can I help you' I explained to him of my hospital visit and reason, he listened to my chest and stated all was very clear, not a crackle to be heard, must have been a viral infection, blood must be coming from clearing my throat-small blood vessels.
Then he said, I will send you for a chest x-ray, had to tel him they did that on the night, oh he said, was there anything showing up, I said no I was told all was OK.
The then asked me if I had any health problems, I did say I was concerned of the crackling lung due to me having bullous emphysema, oh he said I had better check my notes. Sorry but do they not look at these things before a patient comes in!
Anyway after 10mns I cut my losses and left, lungs ok, he put it down to a viral infection.

Hi maybe they don't have time between patients to check their records. They are only allowed 10 minutes aren't they, and unless they can get you in and out quickly in less than that then the time isn't available.
The good news is that you seem to be ok now. Take care. x
Hope you stay well . Some dr give you more than 10 mins. I once had a GP who always went over 10 mins. You can always ask for a double appointment. And she was the most popular DR in the practice. So you knew when you had an appointment with her you would be there along time. But she gave her time foe every patient she saw. Not many Gp's like that. Take care
Hi David, good to hear all is ok and the infection has now cleared. Maybe it is best to keep your own diary and record dates etc when you had examinations, symtoms X-rays and the like. It may sound like a jobs worth but it is funny when you turn up at the surgery with a file, they then seem to take more interest.
Hi and thanks for the reply, I've kept everything from being diagnosed back in 2010, great thing is since being diagnosed with bullous emphysema I've compared ct and chest x-ray notes, it's not spread or got any worse, let's hope it stays that way. Colds and viruses, I get them now and again but it passes fairly quick, I've probably had this crackle in the lung before but I never knew it was there, only thing I take is paracetamol when ever I need it.
That's brilliant only having paracetamol. I have viewed the use of oregano tablets seems they are good for respiratory infections. Do you know anything about these or how good they are?
I was astounded a few weeks ago I went to see one of the GPs. Nice youngish chap, at school with my younger son. When I got in he said that he and my other GP who I usually saw had sat down together that afternoon and had gone through all my recent notes and letters from consultants... Wow with knobs on. Impressive or what? Usually you get the impression that they look at the latest stuff during the ten seconds it takes to get from the waiting room to consulting room.
So pleased your lungs are clear my docs the same and he says the same thing to me every time and your still smoking it drives me crazy I stopped smoking in2003 he still insits I smoke .take care Kathy x
Better check the notes!! Is he actually a GP!!?? Look at the computer and you'll be able to see straight away what the major issues of a pt are!
This is disgraceful and embarrassing for a gp to not know about the pt entering the room. They code everything that's important and this should.flag up.
Not.only that....you had an appointment...he should know.a bit about each pt before they enter the room by doing a bit of research before.hand.
I don't care how long a gp has with a patient.... Knowing the pt is first priority..this is slack!!
I have often wondered the same thing. I was once reqested by my surgery to make an appointment with my GP & when I got there she asked me what I wanted (grrr...). Also, most times I just feel as if she's impatient & is trying get through each appointment as quickly as possible! It is just SO frustrating & definitely doesn't give me confidence in any advice/treatment etc that I get. I changed my GP approx. one year ago because she never seemed to have a clue about my conditions, but this one is just as bad!!
