Patient turned Doctor.

I've been around Doctors and ill people for a few years now to have picked up a thing or two. My sister-in-law and her boyfriend stayed with us over the weekend and he was complaining about breathlessness and the swelling around his ankles. To me these are the very familiar symptoms of lung or heart problems.

I got my sats metre out of the draw and placed it on his finger. He showed 89 at rest which was lower than me at the time. I then checked out everyone else who was there to check the calibration of the metre and they were all 97/98 as expected. I then checked him again and it was still 89.

I told him that it would be a good idea to see his GP when he got home. He did more than this, he booked an appointment over the phone for the next day back in Stockport where they live.

His doc was concerned enough to book him for blood tests and a chest x ray the following day and he is now awaiting results.

If you want a consultancy meeting then my fees are very agreeable. :)

Ok maybe I not quite a qualified GP yet but It seems as though I have picked up a thing or two.

Doctor Tony :)

Definitely, tax haven here we come (I can sail a bit too so can help skipper the yacht :-) ). What size shall we get?

I think I might get a lottery ticket as well, just as a back up you understand.

Size matters so I think we'll make it a big white one eh' and go where the wind takes us.

That lottery ticket is due to come up soon so until then we'll just dream on.

Size matters to a point Tony but we don't want to show off, or ... do we? I was thinking about possible pirates. Not too worried about the body, not much worth knicking, but I don't like the idea of being put up for ransom. I fear they would only get a few quid for me at best! Perhaps we should stick to the Greek islands rather than be too adventurous. Never been to Greece or on cruise so I look forward to being an underling deck scrubber to captain peeg ... ha, ha, ha :-) :-) :-) Alison

Lets do it MC, we could become the peoples champions when we are on the news being prosecuted by the inland revenue. It seems there are plenty of multi millionaire company's who get away without paying their dues so why not us eh'

Have you thought of brain surgery Tony? The hours are shorter and the pay is greater. Plus, you have a ready made list of clients on here. lol

Well done Tony, you may even have saved his life. Early diagnosis of potential heart

problems is absolutely critical.

One other issue, my hands tend to get cold, particularly in Winter. This is due to a side effect in one of my non COPD medications. Whenever I have my sats tested using Oximeter, the initial reading is usually low about 89/90. Nurses who spot this bring a cup of warm water which I dip my finger in for a minute or so. The reading the adjusts back to "normal" of 97/98. Before I discovered this some nurses put the lower reading on my notes !! Something worth knowing. Cheers Adrian

It'll be interesting to see what the results of his bloods and x ray shows. There's no doubt he wasn't a picture of health and his doctors quick action only confirms what I thought.

Its funny about your cold hands, I have the opposite problem as the nurse has to run my hand under a cold tap when finger pricking for a bloods INR test. It seems I'm too hot too handle.

Dall that's interesting, shows how different we all are. In my case

It's the beta -blockers - a common side effect. They are ok in Summer but in Winter. When someone shakes my hand I can see they think ... this bloke has just been dug up! All the best Adrian

Dr Tony - how's your bedside manner? Lol

Never had any complaints. :)

Now look what you've done, thought I had a good thing going but you had to go public first. Does the female thing and stomps off to the bedroom to sulk and sulk.

love Tina xx :)

Sorry about that Tina, you'll be alright though as my medical area only stretches to my front door.

I've been thinking though about making use of the thunder storms were getting, maybe building up a Frankendall05, well it can't be difficult, I've watched the films and with my mechanical knowledge and a lightning conductor, a defibrillator, I guess I'll need an igor as an assistant so if your out of work? Ha Ha

Look if the NHS can't fix us then we'll just have to do it ourselves yeh'

Tony xx I think there's a film here somewhere Frankendall05 meets Tinastein.

ROFLPMSL- you are a bad man but what fun we could have, sell the rights to National House of Horror. Make a million and spend it making replacement lungs.

well done Dr Tony :) ;)

Hope things are ok with the patient.
