Hi

Get yourself comfortable, and try slow pursed lip breathing.

And don't look at any news for awhile, getting worked up does wonders for you pulse rate. It needs to be below 120. Around 100 is probably more normal lower is better.

Hi D

Stone's figures are the ones I was given a few weeks ago when I had a pulse of 145 plus vision disturbances and was told by Guys call Ambulance now.

If no improvement ring 111 or if your A an E is near go there.

Thinking of you

Try some relaxing music along with the breathing, concentrate on slowing your breathing and heart rate. Close your eyes and think about your heart rate slowing down and block everything else out and listen to your breathing slowing down.

Hope you feel better soon

Hi farmer D, I've experienced that pulse racing and oxygen dropping, it was about 2am as I live alone it was very frightening, I had to fight with myself not to panic kept trying to control my breathing and calm myself down. Not so easy when your heart is racing away  it lasted about  2 hours then suddenly the heart rate started to slow down and the breathing became easier. As hard as it is my only advice is to try and stay calm and control your breathing till it passes. Ask your GP if there's anything to help if it happens again.

Take care Peg xxx

I've no advice for you Farmer, but, I hope this passes soon for you. My SIL's mam has Copd and her heart rate has gone up like yours a couple of times and it always settles back down again fairly soon. xx

It's scary when you feel like this, Farmer. I find Rescue Remedy is brilliant for calming you and slowing everything down again. It's made from flowers and tree products so will not upset any medication that you are taking. It staves off anxiety attacks too. Polly x

Hello Farmer D

Only just saw your post....l hope you are OK now 😂

Have a word with your GP , l used to have attacks like that and now on medication for it,.. very successfully.

You must avoid stressing yourself out, ....May l politely suggest 😂 now you can read the newspapers again, since having your cataracts done, you avoid all article's to do with Politics 😂😂😂😂

Stick to the sport pages....Same with the telly, skip the news and watch the Disney channel,....much more fun 😂😂😂😂

At all costs D , avoid the Tory word 😂😂😂😂 YA HEAR !!

Take care

My heart raced on and off for a few months and, on the advice of my Pulmonary Rehab Physio, I made an  appointment to see my GP.  He was a little concerned and said that my heart is under stress when I get breathless.  He gave me a med to slow my heart down which has worked - I feel so much more comfortable.  He took quite a time to think about the best one for me, as some of the inhalers can speed your heart rate, and some heart meds work in opposition to COPD meds.  The one he finally prescribed is Adizem

Hope this helps

I'm not being funny but have you considered meditation or yoga? I don't know if they will work but both are supposed to allow us to "enter a calm place" - given that there will be no side effects (as far as I am aware) it might be worth a try?

Best wishes
