That is beyond belief it is totally shocking what is this government up to

in reply to

And what's even more scary is that there is no viable political force to oppose them at the moment either. x

Thank you for the link, its disgusting behavior from what is called a welfare department. Not only that it rather contradicts the meaning of PIP, it is supposed to be personal independence payment to help a person remain independent , many people rely on mobility payments to get them to work keeping them off the sickness benefit. In my opinion this is forcing people to become more dependent on the state by becoming housebound and inactivity causes more health problems which costs more money from the government coffers and our taxes. That is besides the knock to the persons emotions. Is nobody safe from these cuts even the severely ill.

Well said Katie. Thanks for the link Jeff. Dreadful treatment of this young ill young woman. It does make me sad too that they themselves come out with statements like 'some people take the mick'. 0.5% fraud - is that really enough to put severely disabled and chronically sick people through this traumatic and cruel emotional and physical roller coaster and even then they do not have the peace of mind of knowing it is indefinite - even though theire conditions are.

No 0.5 % is so small it is unbelievable , and does not warrant this massive cost of investigating all existing claimants who have already been through the mill to get the benefit, yet it seems even 0.5% got through the system anyway :) :)

Hi cofdrop, I read some of the comments too.

I have been checking out the Gov UK website ...Personal Independence Payments.. aids and appliances descriptors.

This outlines the changes that are being debated ...points that are allocated for needing certain aids for daily living.

I think the Motability scheme was introduced when the old post war single person Invalid Carriages were phased out.

I have just been awarded standard rate for both and most of my point were for the things I have to help with my daily life that will change if if these new changes come in to force

This is just disgusting the sooner this system is changed back to what it was before Gordon Brown screwed it up the better.

I understand the decision maker who never see's you is employed by Atos or Capita who ever does the assessment.

We would not have to cut benefits if we came out of the EU and shut the flood gates that Brown & Blair opened I am really sorry if this offends people I'm not being racist just concerned for the country I was born in and very proud of our NHS that is crumbling under the pressure of the volume of people they are having to treat

I worked for the NHS and I saw over the years what politicians did to this fantastic system we had but sadly the biggest strain on the NHS was when Brow and Blair opened the gates with no thought as to where these people would get medical treatment, how many teaches will crack under the strain of large class rooms many children unable to speak English and where these people would live the only thought was they would get more votes and now we all suffer.

The Tories are no better they have carried on with the changes of the benefit system changed by Brown they do not work and again we suffer. I am in no doubt the system needs changing back and anyone with a long term illness like COPD should be awarded the benefits before we pay benefits to people who cross the boarder having never paid in to the system.

This lady is another one whom I have heard about being told the car was going to be taken away,,,the evil civil servants who are doing this should have a humanity test,,,IDS is an overpaid mp,,and a very rich man,,,the sum of the £2000, will not get anybody very far with getting other transport, and it will not meet the insurance, rac, and all the other costs in running a car.

I hope that those who have been told this,,,manage to keep their cars, as like them I too would become housebound if my car was taken away,,,,keep fighting is all we can do,,,,,,even though it makes the conditions worse,,,,,,,ttfn from Karen.
