This morning online copy of the New York Times brought news that doctors with England's NHS have gone on strike and so I wondered how or if it's affecting anyone here:
"...LONDON — Hospital doctors in England staged their first strike in four decades on Tuesday, disrupting treatment for thousands of patients in the National Health Service and escalating political tensions over a publicly funded health care system so revered that it was once likened to a national religion..."

I had a hospital appointment yesterday. Expected it to be cancelled but it just went ahead as normal. Lots of young drs and supporters outside but all good-natured.
Jeremy Hunt should pay them extra for their Saturday shifts, this now seems to be the sticking point.
Not this time, although I was caught up and an emergency during the last strike over40 years ago. I am still behind them though. BTW it is any doc who is not a consultant who are involved - surprisingly after all their training and experience they are classed as junio doctors - I always think of junior doctors as being the 'baby doctors' and I dread it when I see them approach.
It may of slowed things down but I would rather have a doctor that feels refreshed. Instead of one that would be forced to work more hours before they can have a break. I am not a doctor but I do know what working 90+ hours a week does to the body.
