Morning Angela
I am intrigued with your story. You say that you are a non-smoker. Who has diagnosed your COPD? It is one of my concerns (and one that I have raised frequently on this site) that doctors are too quick to make that diagnosis. COPD usually has a cause, if not smoking then a work situation with toxic dust/fumes/atmosphere. The only other cause is Alpha1-antitrypsin-deficiency. Rare, and would be apparent from an earlier age.
Can you give us a few more details?
Hope things go well with the consultant.
Make sure you get from that meeting what you want. Take a list, and a friend?
All the best

Been told its because my mum, dad sister and ex husband all smoked in the house in the past, I'm guttered x
What tests have been done? Do your parents have COPD?
If they HAVEN'T got COPD then I think the doctors should think again. I believe there is a genetic link.
But, hey, what do I know?
You are in a horrible situation. To feel that your own family has caused this.
Do let us know how it goes.
Lots of love and hugs

Hi none of my parents smoked I have COPD through smoking. I was told by a consultant COPD was damage to the lungs through smoking. I have also been told that only 1 in 4 smokers get COPD. I feel really sorry for my son an daughter because they were passive smokers. Although people who have never smoked can get COPD
Morning! Exercise definitely helps, and don't worry if you get out of breath, just wait for the breath to settle and go again. There are plenty of exercise programmes for folk with breathing problems.
Good luck,
Polly
